Hiccup Cure!?!


Question: I went into the store one day with my Mom and I had the hiccups really bad. A man that worked in the store told me to get a small glass of water, it doesn't have to be much. Put a paper towel over the glass and drink the water through the paper towel. IT WORKS! That was about 15 years ago this guy told me that. It has never failed me. Try it the next time you have the hiccups! Do you have any remedies for hiccups that really work?

-Hold your breath as long as possible, and then gradually exhale. This is the simplest remedy for hiccups.
-Take a paper bag, open it, hold the edges near your nose, and breathe in and out of it forcefully for 10 times. This will force you to inhale your own carbon dioxide, which naturally relaxes the muscles of the diaphragm.

I hold my breath and take 10 sips of water, more if needed. My dad once had the hiccups for two weeks. No matter what he did, they just wouldn't go away. On day, they just went away on their own.

spoonful of peanut butter, just swallow it down.

drinking the glass of water upside down always works for me. anything that requires your mind to concentrate on something else generally works.

Hold your breath for about 10-15 seconds.

Put a teaspoonful of sugar in your mouth but don't swallow it. Press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue until all the sugar dissolves. By the time it dissolves your hiccups will be gone.

Fill a shot glass with worchestershire sauce. Drink down all in one swallow. Works for me every time.

put water in your mouth, close your nose and ears with your hands and then swallow...a science teacher taught me this one :)

yeah, count from 10-1 slowly taking deep breaths and concentrating on the numbers. It gets you to control your diaphram and thats what hicups are, spasms of your diaphram.

get someone to hold your ears as you hold your breath and drink ten sips of water...i swear it really works

suck air in until you can take anymore in at all. not even a drop. then push all the air out of your stomache and chest as hard as you can. give it try next time

You can also mix a teaspoon of sugar w/water & drink. Works everytime!

1.A moderate punch between the end of the shoulder blades.
2.A cup of water drunk in three sips while sitting.

Press the soft indented area behind your earlobes, behind your jawbone, with your fingers really hard until the hiccups stop.
