Should I be taking supplements?!


Question: I a 23 year old guy who is taking ginko biloba, ginseng, lutein. I also used to take centrum. My uncle noticed me ingesting my usual dose and said " You're 23! You don't need to be taking supplements! I should be taking that crap! And I dont!" and proceeded to flex various muscles in full 50 yr old glory.

I disagreed, stating it could do no harm. However, I myself am not fully convinced. Would I really be better off not taking them?

Consider your supplements as a preventative. I have been taking them for years and years. I am almost 40 but most people think I am in my 20's. They do work and can't hurt you. For me they have been a god send. Keep taking them and maybe at 50 you will look 21!

Double-dose your Centrum, once early and once late every day. Also, do a daily dose of vitamin C crystals. Pure vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant, and it's impossible to overdose, unlike many other vitamins. That's all anybody needs. If you want to use other herbs take them in the form of tea, and don't use a lot!

That is why it is called supplements, we are not able to eat and take the nescessary nutrients needed by our body on a day to day basis.
Take an organic supplements(plant based products), it is much safer to take and it will not harm your liver.

You are wise to start supplementing at an early age. Our soils are terribly depleted from much needed nutrients that we would normally receive from a healthy diet.
Depending on where you live, you may benefit as well in supplementing with some Vitamin D.
