I'm assuming you are meaning Foot Reflexology. Right? This was developed in the West out of what was called "Zone Therapy." Later it was changed to "Foot Reflexology." But, there is also "Hand Reflexology" as well.

But, what many don't know is that it was first developed by the Chinese several thousand years ago, and was, and still is, used as one of the main components of their form of medicine. Knowing this information should allow you to see that it is a valid procedure for treating many different disorders and illnesses.

So, to answer your ques., "Yes", Foot Reflexology can be helpful in the treatment of IBS, and headaches. Many therapist around the country are very successful in helping to reduce these conditions daily. Therefore, I would recommend going to a certified trained therapist in Foot Reflexology for treatment. And, when you hear people say that it's only a placebo, and has no medical benefit, just remember that millions have been using it effectively for centuries, and that these critics are probably not educated to reflexology's effectiveness, nor do they know anyone who has received any benefits from it. They are making a purely judgmental statement. Check it out yourself.

I would discuss it with the reflexologist as it's his or her area of expertise.

I used to have reflexology for a bad back and it helped ease the pain and was just so relaxing it was so worth it. You might also like to consider acupunture which is really good too. Good luck.

Reflexology is marvellous for certain ailments, i havent heard of it helping IBS, but i have had it for headaches, if you have a bad headache, massage inbetween your forefinger and thumb, quite firmly.
Sounds odd i know, but it works for me! Its called Pressure Points. Ask your local reflexologist for some more information on them.

It will if you believe it will. You must believe in the force to harness its power.

Possibly, but making some changes to your diet will almost certainly clear up both your IBS & headaches. The book: Improve your digestion by Patrick Holford is the one that I'm reading. When your IBS has gone, chances are the headaches may go too. Best of luck.

At least there's one person out there with the ability think for themself.

I suffered with the same problems. I managed to sort out my IBS myself by making sure that i stook to a rountine when eating meals three times a day. Eating something light for breakfast eating fruit in between if hungry before lunch. It is also important not to eat to many things that will make you bloated, for example i find if i eat to much bread my body reacts badly. The head aches can be a numbers of things causing the problem, for example, not enough sleep or over sleeping should only sleep for 8 hours a night, this to needs a rountine. Eye strain, might need a eye test, stress, dehydration, alergy problems, sinus problems. The reflexology will help more with the headaches.

Unlikely. Reflexology is a foot massage, nothing more. Any other health benefit has been completely discredited. It's a relaxing waste of money.

The University of Leeds did a small group research on this and found no difference between the foot massage and Reflexology applied to the IBS participants.

Reflexology is an amazing bodywork modality (not a foot massage!!!), that can have very positive effects on many health conditions, especially stress-related conditions. However, it shouldn't be considered a "cure-all" but an adjunct to your existing treatment in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.

By the way, I've seen positive responses in my clients with both headaches/migraines and IBS. Your practitioner can advise you on a course of treatments, the sessions accumulate with frequency so you may go weekly for a few weeks and then taper off to bi-weekly and eventually to monthly or as needed.

yes u can do this at home also.some people get relief rite away and some need continued treatments.my moms doctor has her taking a fiber supplement for IBS and its working,Metamucil,i believe

Reflexology is only an expensive foot massage. Just a placebo.

Reflexology has proved to be very helpful to IBS sufferers. But also i'd try yoga, its very gentle. Visit a Natropath for your personal diet plan, everyones different so what one doctor tells 100 people with IBS isnt gonna work. But a Natropath can do certain tests and find out whats best for YOU

Good luck

It helped me with both. I had it done from once a week to every fortnight for an hour.
