What are the effects of amino acid on the body? (5-HTP)?!

Question: 5-HTP is 5-Hydroxytryptophan. This means that it is a tryptophan (an amino acid) with a hydroxyl group at the C5 position. Serotonin is 5-HT (5-Hydroxytryptamine) which is the decarboxylated version of 5-HTP. There are enzymes in the brain and in the liver that can make this conversion.

It can be used as a drug to increase serotonin levels in the brain and in the bloodstream. Makes you feel happy (and may also cause nausea) and can also be used to regulate neurotransmitter levels in cases of an imbalance. (serotonin is an important neurotransmitter)

I'm not a doctor but amino acids have lots of effects on the body and brain. My son takes several different amino acids to build better neurotransmitters, specifially help to control the inhibitors and excitatory transmittors. His excitatory count was way higher than it should've been taking into account how low the gaba or inhibitory transmittor was showing. The dr. prescribed DHA first and foremost and in two weeks time.....what a difference. He has brakes for his brain now.

i am not a doctor. and i can't make any medical claims... but i found some info online for you... out of a nutritional gossary
Folic acid: Is a B complex vitamin, which is necessary to optimize physiological function and health. Folic acid is important in the utilization of proteins (amino acids). It is also involved in one carbon metabolism including the methylation of homocysteine to L-methionine and DNA synthesis. Folic acid also plays an important role in pregnancy.
any other info your looking for check this out....

Sweet hearth.... they do a lot for you, in fact we should be taking the every day as part of your diet.
Humans can produce 10 of the 20 amino acids. The others must be supplied in the food. Failure to obtain enough of even 1 of the 10 essential amino acids, those that we cannot make, results in degradation of the body's proteins
