I really like Mountain Rose Herbs. They are not specialists for essential oils, but I buy lots of stuff from them regularly and have never been let down. If you're a beginner in aromatherapy, they would be my suggestion. They have decent oils (100% pure) at reasonable prices.

The essential oils I use most often are tea tree for first-aid and spots, lavender for first-aid and relaxation, peppermint and bergamot for both their awesome aromas (alone and mixed), mixed for my favorite sinus relief (something I have a problem with in winter) and also for just feeling good, eucalyptus for general colds, vetiver for grounding (intense, but my favorite oil! reminiscient of patchouli), and that's about it for my most-used oils. Oh, and my new favorite is black pepper, but so far I've just used that in perfume-style blends. It smells so good!

As a disclaimer, I feel like I should mention (based on other responses), you should never use essential oils neat (not diluted in a carrier oil or other dilution method). The only ones I'd suggest using neat, and they should be used only in very small amounts, are tea tree and lavender.

I get mine from the health food store.I use peppermint in the morning in a hot bath and lavender in the evening to help relax me.I also use essesntial oils in an atomizer mixed with pure water that the minerals have been removed from .You can mist yourself or the room to freshen or cool excess warmth down.

I use peppermint on my lips because plumps them out.

I mix lavender and lemon in my hair conditioner to give my hair added shine.

I use cinnamon oil on my wrinkles to plump them out, too. But it hurts like heck and probably not the smartest thing to do because most people are really sensitive to it. And some forms of it have been known to be toxic - so if you try that, you do that at your own risk. (besides, I wonder if peppermint would do the same thing...I'll have to try that).

I dab patchouli on acne to make it go away. Lavender works too.

I buy most of my oils from a wonderful seller on eBay. I'll provide a link to the store below. If you want to buy them locally, look for the Now label. Now is a high quality, yet affordable brand.

Have fun and be careful. Some of the oils are super potent.

a have a friend/teacher who makes clove oil for me, its great for tooth aches!

CAll around to your local healthfood store and see if you can find a brand called "Now" it is very reasonably priced - and the quality is pretty good (some are very good, some are so-so) - the selection though, is limited....

i use rosemary oils for my hair and scalp, lavender for calming affect to promote sleep.
to buy try a website that specializes in them

I love essential oils too! I use Neroli and Rosewood for my skin, they are good for anti-aging and regenerate new skin cells. I also like to use Lavender and Chamomile to help me to get better sleep at night. I buy essentials from Natual Green, http://www.naturalgreen.ca/Essential-Oil... you can contact them to request free sample.

lavender I use in magickal workings that involve soothing erratic energy and cause inner beauty to radiate outward, also lavender rose on my dream pillow. The 3 oils I can't do without are Van Van,Seven African Powers, and High John the Conqueror.Patchouli helps with protection.Jasmine for promoting self love and self confidence, frankincense and myrrh along with dragons blood to cleanse my sacred space, anise, camphor, lavender and wormwood for mental fatigue, cedar oil and an item of jewelry you wear often to imbue courage, rub into and focus your intent.ambergris and red poppy to put rhythm and balance back into your life, peppermint oil in a bath for hot summer days to cool down your core temperature,

I'm so excited about this subject right now because I have just ordered a still so I can make my own oils from the garden! The oil I use most is tea tree oil. It is good for everything! For the lady who uses cinnamon oil on her face and finds it burns, dilute it with olive oil, grapeseed oil or jojoba oil. These oils are also good for your face and will make the cinnamon less caustic. As far as where to start, there are fabulous books available (look up aromatherapy) that tell you which oils do what. If you get a couple from the library, read them and start with the oils that are most useful in your life. The fastest way to get the oil into your system is to smell it. Massage into feet and ears are tied for second. They are expensive, but you are usually using just a couple of drops so they last awhile, properly stored. For purity, use grade A oils and definitely certified organic. Be sure to let us know how you are progressing...

Well, some of the ones I use daily or most often aren't too expensive. The more expensive ones, such as rose or jasmine, I use sparingly, or I just get a diluted one. What I was told from a teacher (I had some training during massage school), was that rose is so powerful, that you don't really need pure extract anyway. Or you can just use twice as much with the diluted. I get mine mostly at the health food stores because it's closer and not bad quality. If you're looking to spend the money http://www.aromatherapie.net/ has some great quality oils, but again, it gets a little more expensive. I've also bought some online that turned out to be roughly $3-$5/bottle. I think with shipping it was another dollar or two added on. that's still not bad! :)
The ones I use the most often are in my healing work. Sage for clearing, lemon and lavender are also great for clearing. Lemon is also uplifting, but very gentle about it. Peppermint is great for when I have sore muscles. Rosemary works great with that as well. Tea tree is great for any cleaning because of it's antibacterial qualities. Orange because I love the smell. lol But it's also like lemon. Uplifting and antibacterial (as I believe all citus are). Eucalyptus is great for colds or any other sinus problems. Plus, to me it smells better than vicks. Back to lavender, it's really great for anything. lol It's honestly a must-have in all oil kits. It's relaxing, great for burns, refreshing, etc. Ginger is good for upset stomachs. Some of the flowery scents, such as geranium, are really good for female issues such as pms and menopause. Same with neroli. I use the woodsy scents for grounding. I like cedar the most just because of the smell compared to sandalwood or something like ylang-ylang. The scent of ylang-ylang is just something that I really don't like. lol Personal preference is all. :)
Those are the ones I use the most of. However, I always say use precaution and look up the side effects of oils before you use them. There's oils that have side effects that we need, then there's some that have effects we don't need at the time. For example, jasmine is an oil often used in the birthing room. That would not be a good oil to use around a pregnant women who isn't ready to give birth. :)

Yoy can get some good info at my site

My favorite to use is ylang ylang as perfume, but it's also good to mix in hot water for a yummy smelling bath or in a pot of water to boil for a yummy smelling kitchen. Another favorite is something we get called "Sinus Mixture", which is mostly just peppermint among other things. You can put it on a kleenex, in hot water, in your bath, what have you, and it really helps with clogged sinuses in the winter.

As far as where to go, see if you can find a small herb shop or privately owned place. And if all else fails, my favorite local shop sells items online http://www.cherylsherbs.com/.

(BTW: here's the sinus mixture, http://www.cherylsherbs.com/store/index....
