How do I massage a person with Fibro Mialgyia?!

Question: To my fellow massage therapists. The question above. I was thinking maybe just lymphatic drainage to ease the pain... or is it just minimal about of pressure when massaging?

Start off by telling your client that you will talk to them frequently and ask them questions about how much pain they are in. Use the pain scale of 1-10, with 10 being the worst. Tell them they should tell you if it gets more than 6 on a pain scale and to not try to "tough it out". Then, make sure you have a table warmer on high and have the room extremely warm. Have warm neck rolls and eye pillows in a crock pot waiting. I also take some hand towels, get them damp with hot water, put a couple of drops of lavender in the water, roll them up, squeeze the water out and put them in a warm crock pot on low. Then wrap the feet with them. Then you can begin with a gentle scalp massage, slowly working down to the shoulders. By this time, the neck roll comes off and back into it's own crock pot to reheat for later. Keep changing the feet towels often as feet are usually extremely cold for Fibro patients. Slowly perform a Swedish massage with gentle kneading as the patient tolerates. Be aware of the tender points as these areas can suddenly become painful to touch without warning. Please be sure and stretch out the patient after the massage, concentrating on lower back and triceps and SCMs.

Also a Hot Stone massage is extremely beneficial to Fibro patients. Just don't apply lots of pressure, just gentle flowing strokes, changing stones often.

You will not like this but.... Fibromyalgia along with ME (Myocardialencephalilitis) is unproven in the medical field. There is no specific pathology that relates to either of these conditions. As a massuese, you should be concentrating on the therapeutic/psychological benefits to your clients rather than try to be a doctor of medicine. You are not a therapist, you are an individual who provides a massage. All medical practitioners are aware that no amount of "lymphatic" drainage makes one iota of difference, the body dictates the levels of the lymphatic system and how it deals with it. Psuedo medicine has become the new "opium" of the masses, those who "profess" to have FM cannot bear to be touched in the first place!!! Such is their "raison detre". I suggest you read up on medicine and anatomy, and dump your delusions of grandeur. Someone who says " about" instead of "amount" hardly inspires my confidence. .
