Why shouldn't you use peppermint oil in pregnancy?!

Question: I've seen lists of what essential oils you can and can't use in pregnancy, and they seem to say that you shouldn't use peppermint oil.

Why is this?

Would it make a difference if it was putting a couple of drops of oil on a tissue and breathing in the vapours compared to applying peppermint oil to the skin?

All plants from the mint family are used to start menses. If you are pregnant, that is something you do not want.

So, no sniffing or inhaling or applying or ingesting any mint in any form.

They mean internally, because it is so concentrated. Breathing it in is OK, and you should also use saline nasal spray.

With aromatheraoy, peppermint oil can be very overstimulating. You don't want to risk any chances for miscarriage by inhaling a powerful essential oil.
