We've used neosporin in the past, but really weren't impressed. More did it because that was what everyone said to do.

Honey is a great antibacterial, if you get pure, raw, unfiltered honey. Honey is a natural antibacterial, and as with all bee products, packs a great health and healing punch. If my choices were only OTC or honey, I'd use the honey.

Best bet is option #3 - aloe. That is what we use now. It aids in healing, and we never have problem with infections. You can keep an aloe plant and just break a stem and rub the juice on the wound, or you can buy 100% aloe at just about any store. We also use it if someone gets a burn. My mother always used it topically on us, so when faced with the realization it worked better than OTC recommendations, I turned back to aloe. Mom's really do know something ;-)

The aloe plant has been known for generations for it healing properties. It is most well known for internal use. More on Aloe: http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/...

Other good healing herbs are tea tree oil and lavender.

Neosporin antibiotic ointment. I have never tried honey but I know from experience Neosporin works and works fast. Kill the germs and the wound can heal faster.

honey works great. i read about it one time how in the old days they used honey to keep out germs and it has an antibiotc -like property to it. so i tried it next time i had a cut. it worked great. western doctors of medicine will scoff at this, but they don't believe in anything they can't write a prescription for.

Honey. It is a natural antibiotic, antibacterial, and has anesthetic properties which lessen pain. It has been found to speed the healing of wounds, and it has been used for first aid purposes for centuries.

Just apply local raw honey to the wound, and cover with sterile gauze.
