Doctors prescription?!

Question: I told my doctor that I need energy supplements but she wpuldn't give me a prescription for it. I take 5 hour energy and a spray that also gives me energy and sometimes coffee and rockstar. If I get a prescription from the doctor to either of these things, could I get a discount? All this stuff I'm taking really works and I need the energy. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't give me a prescription to any of these things if I'm already taking this.

You will burn yourself out if you continue on this way. Chemotherapy suppresses the immune system so as to stop/slow the growth of cancer cells. That is what's making you tired.
But you're trying to get energy from nothing. Herbs only stimulate the adrenal glands to trigger a "fight or flight" rush like caffeine. You will eventually burn out your adrenal glands taking these kinds of supplements. Spent adrenals can cause chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, hypothyroid conditions and other secondary stress-related illnesses. This will not help your cancer. It may even encourage it because you're depleting your body even further.
Eating high-protein foods, getting enough sleep, and regular exercize (however much you can do) is the only true path to long term energy. It sounds old fashioned, but these things will help rather than hurt your cancer, especially while undergoing chemotherapy which is akin to running draino through your bloodstream.
Take care, you're a human not a machine.

A doctor is not going to give you a prescription for an over the counter supplement that is not medically necessary, period. You wouldn't be able to get a discount and your insurance wouldn't pay for it, so there is no point anyway.

hmmmm....could it be because none of this stuff requires a prescription. And you will not get a discount if you have a prescription.

My question would be more along the lines...If you need all this stuff for energy what is wrong with you and why would you doctor not run some test to see if you have any problems that would make you that tired

The stuff you are taking can be potentially dangerous if you continue usage over a long period of time. Most of them rely on huge amounts of caffeine for the energy boost. This could increase your blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Have you tried natural vitamin "B" supplements? Your doctor should be determining the source of the problem. Have you received a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea? What did the doctor prescribe?

There's no point for a prescription for over the counter products. The only insurance plan that will cover is medicaid and even so, they are restrictive on what products they cover. Other than that, all other insurance companies won't pay and there's no discount either.

my suggestion is go on the net to www.iloveblow.com get some of that stuff it works great! 5gms of caffeine you'll be bouncing around all day LOL
