Do you think marijuana should be legalized?!

Question: Yes or No and why? i think it should be legalized

Answers: Yes or No and why? i think it should be legalized

I think it should be legalized, but restricted like tobacco and alcohol is. Certain age requirements would have to be met, no advertisements for companies selling the stuff, etc.

People that compare marijuana with hard core drugs have never smoked the stuff. You CANNOT become physically addicted to marijuana, unlike tobacco and alcohol. You don't read about people that are baked on weed driving through stop lights and killing a bunch of people. Nobody smokes some weed and then goes on a murderous rampage.

Prisons are overcrowded, and you wouldn't believe how many people are in prison over marijuana, i.e. the possession of it or sale of it.

I can't believe that people still believe the hype started by the "public service announcement " back in the day called " Reefer Madness". It was meant to scare the public, like people are going to smoke some weed and then go crazy. For anyone that has been around people that smoke the stuff, or smoke it themselves, that little government movie is one of the best comedies going.

How many pot smokers have died from lung cancer compared to those who have died from tobacco use? How many drinkers have died from liver disease or how many people have been killed by drunk drivers?

Legalize pot and tax it. People who weren't going to smoke it before aren't going to smoke it just because it's legal. Those who do smoke it can contribute more to society (taxes) instead of being locked up and being a drain on society. Won't people just grow their own to evade taxes on buying it, you ask? Do you see any smokers growing tobacco in their house?

No. I'm still trying to clean up my house.

Yes... to remove the business and money out of the Crime Industry.

yes, its no more harmefull than alcohol, in fact it has a calming effect, if people could smoke it when there out it would probably reduce the amount of fights coz everyones so chilled out! i think the government only even made it illegal as a boundry type of thing ie hash is illegal so sometimes its hard to get and people get a buzz from doing something bad, if hash was legal , harder drug use would probably become more popular! hash satisfies most ppls need for rebellion!

Hell yea...
first reason: hemp.
second: i love it.
third: Medical Use

Absolutely yes. Alcohol is far more dangerous, both for one's health and also for society. And yet it is legal. I find the current drugs laws completely hypocritical and driven by hysteria/popularism, not rationality and scientific evidence.

Yes,
Marijuana users behave a lot better than alcohol users.
Drunks fight and get aggressive and drive cars under the influence causing major accidents.

Dope smokers are peace loving - happy people.

I would be for legalizing it if we could ban alcohol. We only need one at a time. I have lots of friends and relatives that use pot. I never have. However, the good Lord does say, "every green herb shall be for your use." That is what the good Book says and who am I to argue with what the good Lord says in the good Book?

I think it should be legalized. But I also think that sheep are brainwashed into believing in the 'war on drugs' (which imho is the biggest waste of time and money the US government has ever invented) so I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

Personally, I believe that one of the only reasons that the government hasn't legalized it yet is that they haven't been able to find a way to tax or regulate it. I doubt many people would go to the store and buy it, and sometimes if you get weed from somewhere else, its laced with something that could harm you. I've heard a few stories, since I know A LOT of people who smoke the stuff. And I agree with the guy above- taxing it and making it legal makes a lot more sense than jailing anyone who's caught with it. Just tax it!!! There are enough people in jail!

no i don't think it should be legalized...
why?
not because i don't like pot...i smoke it everday.
i have to be high to go to work...but if uncle sam legalized my mary jane then my children and my children's children will all go to hard drugs like cocaine and meth for regular use in order to get the "excitment factor" that does still come with those things but also comes with pot today.
You know you like having to meet someone up at they're house or have them jump in your car after they done walked half a mile taking them around the block and dropping them off...go ahead legalize pot...and the go tell your kids of stories when it was illegal and they are gonna wanna do something illegal too...monkey see monkey doo lets keep smoking the good green God given grass rather than the man made messy madness we've "cooked" up...

how the hell did ciggs become legal like wtf weed is so much healthier and it gets you fckin high weed is 10x better

never !! i have seen to many accidents under the inluence of
what makes even worse many people drink alcohol with it
at work these people are worthless and sooner or later you will be a fry brain

Yep
its safer than drinking and prob cigarettes
its quite calming
makes u notice things you've never noticed before
and best of all the munchies
lol

NO. MY SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW HAVE FEW BRAIN CELLS LEFT FROM THEIR ABUSE OF THE DRUG.

well i think it should be erased from the planet why coz look at how many teens old people middle aged people unborn children are totally screwed in the head from it people say its not as bad as ice and all that but the same thing happens they kill there brain cells and their future looks like death and ultimately turns into death yes we are going to die some day but if the generations keep this up we will evolve back to what science believes to be were we came from monkeys or apes we have so much to learn and so much to accomplish but people dont care their thing is die before they try anyway that what i think

I don't think that pot should be legalized.
If it were readily available kids would start using it at 13 or 14 and by the time they were 16 they would be looking for a new high. With their familiarity with the drug scene they would then move on to cocaine and then heroin.
Decriminalizing small amounts for personal use might make sense, but that's as far as I would go. If we look at Holland and what has happened there with the legalization of "soft" drugs, we see that the amount of social problems related to drug use has risen dramatically.
