What is the most effective home remedy for colon cleansing ?!

Question: your colon does a fine job of cleansing itself, don't be suckered by the spam out there telling you that you need to take something to clean it out... that is just ridiculous.

Obviously some people don't have the luck that your own body will work properly. My son used to get constipated, it happens to all of us at some time. So I would suggest a gentle herbal laxative. Lots of water and fresh fruit and vegies.

Yes, your colon will clean itself out... but if you overload it with all sorts of chemicals in foods, a poor diet, constipating foods, etc on a regular basis, it can get bogged down and need a cleaning.
The easiest way to stay regular and "clean in the colon" is to keep a good amount of fiber and water in your diet. Fiber helps to continuously clean out your colon so you won't need any harsh laxatives to clean it out (unless some major issue comes up). You can use Oats (oatmeal, etc), Psyllium Husks, fruits/veggies, and/or most grains (chips, cereals, breads, etc) as fiber sources. Water consumption will vary by many factors, but drinking enough water so that you're not thirsty on a normal basis is a good rule of thumb.

If you're not sure how much to take or what kind to take, you can ask a nutritionist or dietitian to find out what would be most beneficial for your situation. Good luck!

Don't EVER do a colon "cleansing" unless you are having a medical procedure. It is NEVER needed otherwise, despite all the lies and BS you may hear. You do NOT "build up stuff" in your colon, no matter what you eat and drink.

It is worthless nonsense, and the only reason it exists at all is because PT Barnum was correct -- "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Edit: Pegetto's theory on diverticulosis is incorrect.
"Diverticulosis is attributed to increased colonic intraluminal pressure while straining at stool in individuals who eat low-fiber diets." It is NOT caused by retained stool.

2 words cranberry juice, the red one,and while it clences your colon,it'll clean your kidneys.

i will tell you that the others that are telling you that colon cleanses are not needed, is absolutely at the wrong side of the spectrum. with the way foods are today, and all of the junk that people are eating we absolutely need colon cleanses.

ask ms. RN at the top of the page why people get diverticulitis, or diverticulosis...because their bowels are not moving properly and the foods they are eating are getting STUCK in the bowel and causing pockets to develop in the bowel.

i don't know that we need some of the more extreme cleanses that people do, but we absolutely need to aid our body in the cleansing process with foods that are easily digested and keep our intestinal tracts lubricated.

i can't believe they said the body doesn't need help, when diverticulitis is a WELL KNOWN disorder!

to cleanse both the colon, liver and pancreas, I would suggest a three day solid food fast and a green drink, you can get one premixed or buy one to mix yourself, look for celery wheat grass and alfalfa in the ingredients! Also drink some tomato juice or V-8 and alternate the green drink and water and unsweetened green tea or black tea, you will feel like a new person! STICK to it, I promise it works!

Eating properly.

Colon does not need cleansing. Constipation can be mitigated with psyllium husk.
