Do baltic amber teething necklaces really help teething infants?!
Question: I just got one for my son a few days ago. He is 9 months and currently has no teeth, but honestly, after wearing the necklace for only a few hours (we take it off when he sleeps) there is a very noticeable change in his behaviour. He is happy, smiling and laughing and a LOT less whiny.
And just to make it clear to everyone, babies are NOT supposed to chew on these necklaces. It works because the heat from your child's body releases miniscule amounts of oil from the amber that absorbs into the skin.
I ordered mine from www.wondrousgems.com because three of my friends had previously purchased from there and never had problems with beads breaking etc.
The paper they sent with my necklace says:

My friend said her young daughter had a terrible time getting her first two teeth - was whiny and irritable for days. But she got 10 teeth while wearing the necklace and the mom had no idea baby was teething until she actually saw the teeth!
So for what it's worth, three of my Mama friends say the amber necklaces worked for them so to me, it's worth a shot.

Anything tough and chewy will help. Amber is awfully pricey to get slimed with baby spit. Try teething biscuits, hard plastic teethers etc and keep the amber nice and clean to wear around your neck.
