You are RIGHT.

It's situational depression.
There is no reason for meds.
This kind of depression is NORMAL and it would be abnormal for you NOT to have it.
The meds would be a short term quick fix but would only delay the grieving process.

Grieve. It's important.
Talk about it. Talk about it. Talk about it. Talk about it.
Talk to anyone who will listen.

It has to come out.
Anything less will hurt you in the long run.

A healthy diet helps. Sunlight helps. Allowing yourself to feel all that you are feeling (including sadness, loss, and even anger) is what's MOST important.

Medicine helps a lot but I understand why you may not want to so I would definitely suggest talking to a psychologist they don't deal with meds.

hang around with friends and family, people who love you. talk with them. you'll feel better. there is no substitute for love.

St John's Wort is fairly good. And try to increase your intake of natural lithium.
Try deep relaxation.

And make sure your diagnosis is correct. Depression is very different to something like bi-polar disorders, for example.

take the meds or get counselling one or other...depression can lead to some bad choices and a poor lifestyle

Depression has many causes....I recomend trying therepy first. Sometimes a counsilor can help deal with the issues causing the depression and no meds are needed. Using herbal drugs for depression can be dangerous, becareful. Find a good counsilor and give that a try.

Why not take the meds, they are not prescribed for no reason. I take mine and am feeling a lot better.

I too have been diagnosed with depression - I have tried all types of therapies and I have to say my medication has always worked best. Try them out first.

My son used St John's Wort and that helped him.

Counselling is also good but sometimes hard to get.

St. John's Wort, B-12, Choline and Running.

Always consult with your doctor first. If you feel you need a second opinion by all means get a professional one my Friend. It is important that you are safe and cared for .
You and your self worth are worth it. I have found ,prayer and living a life with an attitude of gratitude keeps me feeling hart felt joy.
Remembering always that happiness is fleeting, its the true joy in our harts that I seek today. Joy is that constant feeling that no matter what life puts in my way, I can get through it with the help of my higher power who I call Jesus Christ.
God luck my Friend , you ARE worth it.
bereavement.....oh I see sorry for your loss sweety blessed are those who grieve.....I pray today that father God wraps you in his loving wings and helps you feel his presence.
Its OK to feel today sweety.
It might help to talk to a clergy or spiritual leader...If you find a counselor lacking.

If the depression is down to circumstance rather than a bi-polar disorder or similar then you could try psychodynamic counselling which I have found works better than any other form and has got me to see things completely differently. Be prepared to work on every side to your personality, not be afraid to take responsibility. It is the best thing I could have done. Tablets did not change anything. I agree you should have your doctors support but I don't agree that tablets are the answer in every case.

A bereavement? Coping with loss and grief is a natural process. I think we have gotten too trigger happy with anti-depressants. A recent study indicated anti-depressants work only as well as a placebo (sugar pill) most of the time... and we should save the drugs for the severely depressed. Give yourself time to heal and take advantage of the counseling and/or friendships to help you work through the pain. Most likely, you aren't sick... you are HUMAN.

as far as natural remedies, you can try Omega 3 fatty acids, L-theanine if you are feeling anxiety, exercise, laughter, and melatonin if you have trouble sleeping.

Sorry for your loss.

Their are a few things that can help with that..first get at least 20 minutes of sun per day,it raises the ceritonin level in the body try not to wear dark clothing so the rays can get through, also think about what's making you depressed. Taking the correct amount of minerals can help greatly to.

Here are a few links the first one you have to download the free manual and learn it,the others are some supplements to take everyday.

Have a nice day :) .

It seems that you would like to address how you're feeling right now and talking to somebody trained in helping people to deal with bereavement would be a really good first step. Medication can help people with depression but it doesn't always help people to deal with the causes. You know what the cause of your pain is and in all probability, time will be the best healer but until the time comes when you are able to come to terms with your loss, you may find it helpful to talk through your thoughts, feelings and emotions. You won't know until you try. There are many different therapies out there. If you don't want a talking therapy, then you could try something like reiki, reflexology, shiatsu, acupuncture - all these therapies help to bring your body, mind and spirit into balance, helping you to stay grounded, more relaxed, energised and motivated while giving you the space to be where you are right now in your life. I always think it's best to go with what feels right so why don't you go with your intuition? Good luck

yes! Cannabis aka Marijuana has been known to cure this! and if you live in California or Hawaii (maybe oregon, las vegas, and colorado ive heard) you could get a medical card for about $150 and obtain marijuana legally!

Yes Reiki is wonderful please try it.

5htp and Rhodiola Rosea are very effective for depression.

Starflower, selenium, zinc and magnesium all help with depression as does St John's Wort for mild depression. I'm a depressive but refuse to take medication from the GP so I take about 10 different herbal tablets, multivitamins and minerals per day. I feel fantastic.
D73 Good luck.
