Try and get him to drink water as much as you can. Limit milk and other dairy products which can cause constipation. Prune juice if he will drink it is good. Wheat bran can be highly effective as a natural laxative

Give him plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes such as beans and lentils. The fiber found in citrus fruits and legumes stimulate the growth of colonic flora, which increases the stool weight and the amount of bacteria in the stool. Encouraging the growth of certain bacteria in the colon may help promote a healthy intestine.

If eating whole-grain fiber and fruits do not help, then try foods that contain psyllium seed husk, bran, and methylcellulose. These natural products increase stool weight and have a laxative effect. Be sure to drink a lot of water when taking any of these products, as they can clog up the intestines and cause constipation. Fiber must have water in order to sweep the colon and move the stool out of your body.

It's best to get your fiber from food, but if you can't eat enough fruits and vegetables to make a difference, then you can opt for psyllium powder. Mix the powder in a glass of water one to three times daily. Be sure to drink ample water along with this psyllium powder drink. The drink may cause you to feel bloated until you get used to the fiber.

Prunes are a great, natural laxative. Lately they've been remarketing them by calling them "dried plums". You can even buy them individually wrapped.

They are gentle and make the stool soft. Just don't give him tons of them. Start with a couple and work your way up.

Tried fruit? Like umm nectarines? And food with lots of fibre?

I give my son prune/applesauce gerber food for dessert it does help him with his or some diluted prune juice. He usually goes within 24 hours after he has it.

Just a tip, the applesauce mixed with the prunes does taste better to them=:>)

You don't say how old the child is but I would think that you could start off with a small amount of Benefiber and add a little bit more over time. The stuff is great and you can't taste it. You can put it in cereal or drinks and the child will never know. You could also try some prune juice if he/she would drink it or you might try Gerber baby food prunes.

Canned pears with juice do wonders. You can also buy the baby jars of apple prune juice in the baby aisle of the grocery store. Even for older children, it's still good and it's individually sized. They may also have large bottles of Gerber apple prune juice now.

I like glycerine suppositories, they work immediately, you can find them in shop rite
i thought my child was difficult, sorry
he may do well with more proteins - you can put them in a blender if he has trouble with that
organic yogurts?
ginger has helped me a lot with cleaning that out too, maybe put some of the organic powder in baths

A nice peace of dark fruitcake
