What's a good natural flea repellant?!

Question: Fleas love my cat; they stay on her all the time, even though I use anti-flea stuff from the vet. The fleas get into my bed, even though she never goes in my room, and I wake up with bites all over me-- mostly my legs. Is there something I can put on my skin before going to bed that would keep them off? Peppermint-scented lotion didn't help much. I tried "brewing" rosemary and that helped but mixing it up and putting it on was very involved and messy. Is there something simpler?

Eucalyptus Leaves

The answer is eucalyptus leaves. You can get them at any craft store. For some reason the fleas don't like the smell of it. I used this for many years when I lived in California. Safe for the kids and the environment.

Garlic and yeast

Fleas particularly dislike the flavor of garlic and yeast (nutritional or brewer's yeast). Mixing garlic and yeast with your pet's food can render their blood unpalatable to fleas.

Cat owners: Please be aware that raw garlic is known to be toxic to cats. According to Dr. Randy Kidd, the use of garlic, as well as onions, shallots and chives, has been shown to cause damage to feline red blood cells which can result in hemolytic anemia and eventual death. Raw garlic and onions can also cause ulcers and irritation of the mouth, esophagus and stomach.

Other natural repellents include vitamin B1 (thiamine) and apple cider vinegar. (See your veterinarian for the correct amount of a vitamin B1 supplement for your pet.) The dosage of apple cider vinegar is about one teaspoon daily in the pet's drinking water. Apple cider vinegar helps
strengthen the immune system.

For furniture, Borax is great for fleas. It is not toxic and you can sprinkle it on your carpet. Let it sit for a few days and then vacuum it up. You can sprinkle it around the fence of your yard too. I understand that using Skin So Soft from Avon on the animals' coats will repel fleas and mosquitoes. It is also good for the kids skin but just make sure you get the original from Avon.
Sanitize your pet's environment

Fleas lay their eggs everywhere -- in carpets, curtains, upholstery, animal bedding, cracks and crevices. Destroying the fleas' eggs by thorough weekly vacuuming and frequent washing of animal bedding goes to the source of the problem and will help eliminate the flea population in
your house. After vacuuming, be sure to replace the bag right away and take the old bag out of the house. Keeping clutter on the floor to a minimum also will deprive the fleas of hiding places.

garlic cats won't and shouldn't eat it but try the ground stuff in the other places

ditenashious earth not sure of the spelling it is used in pool filters and it a crushed form of fossil. safe for pets and great for the yard and home.

The earth is spread on the lawn and outside where they stem from. Can by used in the home too.

I got a kitten from the shelter last year and she was infested with fleas. I didn't want to use any harsh chemicals on her like what's in Advantage. I rubbed her down with Rosemary Oil and then washed her off a couple times and the fleas were gone and didn't come back!

I have also heard that using baby wash like Johnson and Johnsons with Lavendar works.
My friend also put Avon Skin So Soft body wash in a spray bottle and used it on her cat and she says that worked to get rid of them too.

Fleas hate citrus. Thinly slice a whole lemon, add it to pint of boiling water and let it steep overnight. Sponge the solution onto your cat's skin and yours. You can use this daily.
