Can I take Seroquel and 5HTP together?!
Question: I am trying so hard to ween myself off of seroquel and am having a hard time functioning. I am wanting to start taking 5HTP for anxiety and insomnia (as well as later taking L-Tyrosine and essential fatty acids). Are there any consequences taking the 5HTP and the seroquel together (my plan is to ween myself off the seroquel once I am stabilized).

There isn't any evidence that 5HTP, L-Tyrosince, and essential fatty acids are good for anxiety and insomnia. Taking those with Seroquel might have interactions that are at worst harmful, and at best interfere with the action of Seroquel.
Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's safe. There aren't any safety studies on these supplements you're taking, much less any decent efficacy studies.
Ask your doctor is he/she knows of any interaction problems with Seroquel and 5-HTP.
hmm i know that taking 5htp with some antidepressants is bad because they both work with the serotonin. but im not sure about seroquel. i would ask your doctor before you stop taking, or cut down on the medication because it can have very bad withdrawl symptoms. your doctor can monitor you as you ween yourself off but you really need to let him/her know!!
It will probably depend on the dose of Seroquel you are taking.
If it's under the 150mg and the 5-HTP is around 100mg a night.
Taken both before going to sleep should improve your night's sleep and quality. Think about some B vitamin complex too.
