Quercetin.

Quercetin is found to be the most active of the flavonoids in studies,[citation needed] and many medicinal plants owe much of their activity to their high quercetin content. Quercetin has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory activity because of direct inhibition of several initial processes of inflammation.[1] For example, it inhibits both the manufacture and release of histamine and other allergic/inflammatory mediators. In addition, it exerts potent antioxidant activity and vitamin C-sparing action[citation needed].

Quercetin also shows anti-tumour properties. A study in the British Journal of Cancer showed that, when treated with a combination of quercetin and ultrasound at 20 kHz for 1 minute duration, skin and prostate cancers show a 90% mortality within 48 hours with no visible mortality of normal cells.[2] Note that ultrasound also promotes topical absorption by up to 1,000 times making the use of topical quercetin and ultrasound wands an interesting proposition.

Recent studies have supported that quercetin can help men with chronic prostatitis, and both men and women with interstitial cystitis, possibly because of its action as a mast cell inhibitor.[3]

Quercetin may have positive effects in combating or helping to prevent cancer, prostatitis, heart disease, cataracts, allergies/inflammations, and respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma[citation needed]. It also has antidepressant properties.[citation
needed]

Aleve, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, and using an Ice Pack if the inflammation is localized [like on your knee, foot, elbow] is good for taking down swelling.

Yes! One of the best natural anit-inflammatory you can take is Vit. C. You'll probably have to take it in a supplement form, because you can't eat enough food with high amounts of Vit. C to get the required amounts your body may need.

Depending on your activity and body weight, you'll need to take somewhere between 3g-15g per day. Always take it with food, and spread it out throughout the day. Watch for diarrhea. This is a sign of over-dose. If this happens, just reduce the amount of Vit. C you're taking by 500 mg.

Smoking destroys Vit. C, so if you're a smoker, you'll probably only get 10% or less into your system.

To keep improving immune or mending system of body, taking rest is inevitable. Enough rest or sleep can fix body naturally.

I agree with Mybad in the fact that a knowlege of what exactly is inflamed would be beneficial to the answering of this question.

It bothers me that you used the term "Internal Infammation". If you were complaining of pain in your joints due to arthiritis or excessive use, I would more than happily suggest an NSAID (non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drug) such as Ibuprofen, Naproxin, or even aspirin. You can even go to your Doctor to get a prescription for Mobic (meloxicam). But the term "internal" scares me.

Inflamation if visceral organs is usually caused by infection. In which case, you HAVE to see your Dr right away as the condition may worsen.Your best recourse in this situation would be to start a regimen of antibiotics and then, perhaps even, surgery.

Either way, I would say that its worth a trip to the Doctor.

I use Ginger root as a natural anti-inflammatory. I take 2 capsules with my breakfast, and if the pain comes back later, I take 2 more ginger root capsules with my dinner.

Ginger is very good for the body with no side effects (only side effect I have heard is if a person takes enough ginger to be toxic, it may cause a miscarriage in a pregnant woman--even that amount is something like a pound a day).

Ginger can be taken without meals, but it is spicy so I prefer to take it with meals.

Omega 3's work to fight inflammation--things such as flax & hemp seed oil. You may also want to consider bromelain (enzyme from pineapple), or systemic enzymes (such as Vitalzym or Fibrozym---make sure it contains serrapeptase & these 2 products do). These help fight inflammation (and fibrosis) and are natural. You can find them online but they're kind of expensive. Stay away from teh Cox2 & Cox3 inhibitirs (aspirin & nsaids) as they damage the liver & kidneys, and can cause internal hemmorrage. Remember to add in water & good rest! ;p

Ginger is a really good anti-inflammatory supplement. You can take the capsules or you can drink ginger tea. I also eat ginger mints when I have a upset stomach and they are great.

You can also try taking homeopathic pills. Belladonna works for inflammation.
It really depends on what is hurting you as to what will help.
Nettles helps with joints.
Many more ideas just need to know what part of the body you are wanting to help.

My favorite (besides the foundation of Omega 3's) are Standardized Turmeric Extract and Bromelain. Someone mentioned Quercetin. They are correct. Bromelain will digest the fibrin which forms at the cellular level at the location of inflammation, therefore literally "eating away" at the source of your inflammation, dissolving the pain in the process. Activated Quercetin from Source Naturals contains both quercetin and bromelain (which I use for allergies, and now I use also very successfully against inflammation/ pain)
Selenium and zinc are also anti inflammatories on a lesser degree, as is Vit E.
I have heard of 3 specific products: zyflamend; wobenzyme and "for your inflammation" aka "FYI" by Garden of Eden. I haven't tried them myself.
Dr. Perricone swears by Alpha Lipoic Acid and I am never without. And you're very welcome! =)
