How much Niacin should I take for a niacin flush?!

Question: I'm a female, approximately 170 lbs, and this would be my first detox. I heard that u need to up the dosage after a certain amount of time. Why are the dosages increased, because the body is getting immune, or because there are less toxins?

Unfortunately, that will entirely depend on your body chemistry more than your body size and sex, so it's virtually impossible for us to say.
However, you don't need to actually feel the flush to get the benefits from Niacin (depending on the form of it you use). If you really want to feel the flush, you could just jump at a 500 mg dose of Niacin (a standard dose of straight Niacin, not Niacinamide), but it might also be too much of a flush for you. I've talked to someone who had too much of an effect that told me he got so hot that he had to jump into the shower and turn on the cold water.... while he still had his clothes on.
If you want to play it on the safe side, I would suggest getting a 100 mg dose of Niacin to try it out... you could try 1 pill to see how your body responds, and you can always take more than 1 pill of it.

What are you talking about? Niacin flush is when niacin causes the capillaries to get bigger, and the end result is the "flush". The increase in size of your capillaries causes, in some cases, a redness on your skin in the areas that it is occurring. This is the first part of niacin flush. The second reaction of niacin flush is the annoying, and sometimes painful itch that comes along with it.

Overdosing on niacin is dangerous.

These 'detox' programs are nonsense and potentially dangerous.

It would be difficult to OD on niacin, but it can happen. The dosage would have to be in the 3000mg range and higher. If you have never taken niacin then easily 100mg will cause you to flush and perhaps to vomit or get an upset stomach. If you begin to take it daily like some people do for blood fats then you will eventually stop flushing. I do not see the reason you would take this stuff since it is only a superficial dilation of capillaries that causes the flush and will do nothing to remove anything from your body.
