Seniors, other than precription meds, what other supplements do you take daily.?!

Question: Can you tell the supplements help you?

Answers: Can you tell the supplements help you?

To keep this brief and to the point... Over the years I have taken numerous alternative health supplements. The ONLY ones that I can honestly say have really worked are:

Vitamin C in large doses it will get rid of a boil coming on.

Vitamin E helps my circulation and relieves that heavy feeling I get in my right leg if I don't take 800IU per day.

Colloidal silver always gets rid of pink eye or an ear infection within 3 days. Hydrogen peroxide also works for an ear infection.

Plain old water and sea salt. I recently started on the "Water Cure". I was coming down with bronchitis as I normally do once or twice a year since I was a teenager [I'm 61 now]. I did the Water Cure adding 1 teaspoon of sea salt per gallon of water and then drinking half my body weight in ounces per day as per the recommendations at http://watercure2.org/mankind.htm Instead of lasting for 6 to 12 weeks like it normally does my wheezing lasted less than a week. This amazed me but I still had a cough so after the cough hung on for another 10 days, I doubled the amount of sea salt and the next day my cough was gone!

These are things that I know work, cause they worked for me. There are other things I take just for long term benefits such as fish oil and Dr. Schulze's Superfood.

I TAKE NO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.

I'm not a senior quite yet, but I take:

Glucosamine/Chondroitin - for joint pain
Cod Liver Oil - for joint mobility and general health
A multivitamin/mineral - for general health
Ginkyo Biloba - for the brain
Rhodiola Rosea - for relief of tiredness and general health (it has multiple benefits).
Calcium - to help with pms
5htp - for anxiety and depression - also helps pms
Magnesium - for blood sugar level stability as I suffer from hypoglycaemia
Chromium - for blood sugar level stability
Vitamin B complex - for pms

I also try to avoid all artificial sweetners, colours and additives in my food.

The supplements that I take have helped me overcome my depression and chronic fatigue syndrome. I wouldn't be without them now. Some people pour scorn on those who take supplements, but I know that they've helped me a hell of a lot more than the doctor ever has!

Yes---seniors should take 1000 mg. calcium and 1000 mg of magnesium at bedtime daily---believe this is the most important thing a senior could take------also need multi-vitamin and specific vitamins aimed at particular needs---CoQ-10 is important for memory and heart health.

There are senior citizens' formulas available.

There are many herbal formulations which keep the figure youthful and give a lot of energy for daily work. These even help in retarding aging process, remove skin wrinkles from the body and face. These are les expensive, too.

I am 76 years old and take NO prescription medicines. My ND practitioner recently wanted me to take some K-Pax double-strength vitamins (that's 8 capsules a day), some salmon oil capsules and a tumeric capsule.

I have been taking them for four to five months. I don't notice any difference in my health or the way I feel. I am very sceptical about taking supplements and am going along with his recommendations.

I take 1000 vitamin C in the morning and 1000 2 hours before bed time, 8 years ago my optometrist said 'I had the start of cataract' 2 years later she told me 'it was no worse than before and to keep doing what ever I was doing to keep it under control.
I also take 1000 vitamin E morning and night.
I have just started to take cod liver oil capsules.
just for your information I am 82 years young.
If you wish to stay young learn some thing new because the scientist have found out that it will grow new neurons (brain cells.)

i think its hilarious how natural med folks bash people that take prescription drugs then take 20 herbs. for the small amount of herbs that actually work, theyre drugstoo you know. they can have adverse effects and interactions just like real prescription drugs.
