What vitamin supplements will help my pinched nerve caused by a bulging disc to !
Question: This is the first time in my life I've had to deal with chronic pain. I know, I'm very fortunate. I have a bulging disc between L4 and L5 pinching the nerve to my right leg. I now have a greater respect for the people in my life dealing with chronic pain! A therapist suggested supplements to assist the healing process; in addition, of course, to weight loss and physical therapy. I have found very little on the internet that is specific. Is there somebody out there that has a success story that will help my research? What web sites do you suggest? This has gone on for 5 months. I want my life back! Thank you in advance, I look forward to reading your advice.

Hi Poetess. I am a retired Chiropractor. Have you had a thorough evaluation by your family Chiropractor? Clearly, your current approach to treatment is not working. It may be time to see a specialist - your family Chiropractor.
Sadly, sometimes even the very best non-invasive treatment is not effective. Surgery - as a last resort, and only by the very best surgeon in your area - is sometimes necessary for severe disc herniations with neurological involvement.
As for vitamin supplements - all vitamins (by definition of the term vitamin) and minerals are needed in adequate amounts for proper healing. Numerous medical studies have shown that most Americans are deficient in many vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids (omega-3s) because of the highly processed Standard American Diet. So, a quality vitamin/mineral supplement is probably a good idea to assist the healing process, although nutritional supplements will not likely 'heal' your herniated disc.
Best wishes and good luck.
I would like to thank the people who responded for their concern.
