Melatonin delivered to the UK?!

Question: I just found a UK website that claims to deliver Melatonin. Has anyone ever used www.vitasunn.co.uk and can they tell me if it's true?

I haven't bought from this company, but I've had a look at the website, and I'd say it's legitimate. What do you want the melatonin for? If it's for jetlag, I'd say it's an amazingly effective drug - I use it frequently as I fly long-haul a lot - I buy mine over the counter in Asia. If, however, you're using it as a sleeping tablet (as the website seems to be promoting it) I'd say be very careful - melatonin produces a burst of serotonin in your brain which makes you think it's time to go to sleep - and doesn't leave you with a sleeping pill-type hangover. Used when your bodyclock is out of sync, it can help to reset your sleep pattern, but you should only use it to sleep on the flight, and to help you get to sleep for the first night in a new time zone. If you use it constantly, you can really disrupt your sleep cycles as your brain becomes unable to recognise naturally when you should be sleeping.

It's ludicrous that it's not licensed in the UK though.

If you're having problems sleeping and you can't get hold of any melatonin then try 5htp instead. This is licensed in the UK and acts in a similiar way to the melatonin.

Take 50-100mg last thing at night with a carbo snack or some milk. It won't leave you feeing groggy the next day and is safe and non-addictive.
