Yes! Absolutely!

Acupuncture - or if I had your problem, I would in fact prefer to go to a Touch-For-Health practitioner or a kinesiologist who will help you out of your 5-year long misery in one or two sessions at most.

Don't let anybody talk you into undergoing surgery before you've tried kinesiology. Your muscle can so easily be balanced to regain its normal tension and stop putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.

Time to be pain-free! The best of luck to you!

Cure? no, alleviate symptoms yes. in piriformis syndrome, the sciatic nerve travels directly threw the piriformis muscle, so every time this muscle gets tight or goes into spasm it will put pressure on the nerve. Stretching, massage therapy, muscle relaxants, acupuncture, and alternative touch healing such as reiki can all help the symptoms of this condition. the one true cure is to keep on top of your stretching every day or surgery. the other condition this mimics is sciatica which is a compression on the sciatic nerve or the nerve bundles that make up the sciatic nerve at the spinal level. If you do have sciatica you made need surgery to remove the pressure from the nerve. I would see a chiropractor to make sure this is not the case. otherwise see a massage therapist or try other forms of muscle relaxing therapies.
Good Luck

when the worst comes to the worst a few drops of baptismal water will settle the matter.Try it.

Ramiro;
I am going to give you an alternative point of view to most.
I suffered with piriformis and sciatica for 3 years and had most of the common treatments of chiropractic, massage, special stretches, and nerve stimulation....None of these treatments helped....Then I was introduced to a theory about stress, tension and anxiety causing back pain and sciatica...

If you are a Type A personality type--perfectionistic, stiriving, controlling, pleasing or if you worry a lot and keep your emotions inside then it is highly likely you may have tension induced pain...the biochemistry is oxygen deprivation.

So when you create this inner tension, your autonomic nervous system reacts...blood vessels constrict and less oxygen get to your muscle and nerve tissue....and this is pain--burning, aching, sharp, dull, off & on and it moves.

So the first key to getting rid of this pain disorder is too know the real cause---and that is your thoughts that are initiating
this inner tension.

I have now been pain free for over 5 years. I have a website that is dedicated to helping people who suffer from this disorder. I would suggest you check it out and decide if
this may be the cause of your piriformis.

Regarding accupunture as a treatment for this...It is not addressing the real cause if it is inner tension so it will not be a permanent fix.

good luck, Monte Hueftle
