Died from smoking....none....died from actions involving it such as selling and car wrecks...probably many. FAR LESS than alcohol though. AND...it's not a gateway drug....

i dont think anyone can answer that question... its an opinion thing for most people. there haven't been any long-term studies and there are not many "facts" about illnesses and deaths due to marijuana use.
i don't know personally of any deaths caused simply by smoking it, i.e. overdosing, but im sure like any smoking it can cause heart and lung problems, not to mention stain your teeth and skin. marijuana doesn't have the same carcinogenic additives that processed tobacco has (it will have the naturally occuring ones that are produced during combustion), but, in most cases you won't be growing it yourself so as far as you know, some guy in the woods somewhere may have sprayed it with anything, including harmful pesticides.
bottom line, your lungs don't want smoke in them. even if there's a good buzz associated with it. ;-)
make your own choices, and make educated, enlightened decisions. i'm not saying don't smoke it, i'm saying read up and make an individual choice... don't ever do something because someone else says so or because you think it will make you cool.... and don't NOT do something for those reasons either.
No people have died from it but rather the diseases it causes and the things they do while under the influence. Their inhibition is dropped and they do crazy things. Some people believe they can fly so the jump off buildings and others do other crazy stuff.
you cant - you can die if your heart stops pumping or if your lungs stop working or some other part of your body but marijuana is a plant and doesnt have a direct effect to stop your body from working unless you are unfortunate enough to have a terminal allergic reaction.
