Homeopathic help for depression and weight loss?!

Question: Hello all, just wondering if anyone has ever seen a homeopathic doctor for depression or weight loss. I don't really want to go on any prescription drugs for my depression and I have tried everything to lose weight. Has anyone seen any results?

I am not a homeopath and I don't know if homeopathy can help with either of the two conditions that you mention.

However, as far as depression goes, numerous scientific studies report St. John's wort to be more effective than placebo and equally effective as tricyclic antidepressant drugs in the short-term treatment of mild-to-moderate major depression (1-3 months). Comparisons to the more commonly prescribed SSRI antidepressants, such as fluoxetine (Prozac) or sertraline (Zoloft), are more limited, but other data suggest that St. John's wort may be just as effective as SSRIs with fewer side effects.

St. John's wort can cause many serious interactions with prescription drugs, herbs, or supplements. Therefore, people using any medications should consult their healthcare providers prior to starting therapy with this herb.

As far as weight loss goes, sometimes a person will be dieting and exercising and lose weight very nicely and then all of a sudden hit a plateau in their weight loss. This can be caused by a build up of toxins in the liver. Ask your naturopath or other qualified health provider for a liver-cleansing diet or herbal tincture to help with this.

I would love to see one too...but what helps me is Benadryl. It really changes my mood. My OB told me to try it for depression...

hey , , yup homeopathic treatment is a much better idea 'cos the prescription drugs just get u addicted so that the sales increase n the company makes profit out of ur misery . .

i dont know in ur country, but if you come down to India there are ton loads of clinics , , even better are the Ayurvedic treatments, which is definitely worth ur time n money ! !

yah there r many look in a tellephone book

For the depression try St Johns Wart it is a natural solution for many people. It is readily available from good health stores. Unless you are chronically depressed stay away from prescription meds they can cause way more problems than they solve. As for the weight loss exercise more and eat less it is that simple. Burn more calories than you take in. Exercise will also lift your mood.
Good luck.

As for SSRI anti-depressant drugs recent studies have shown them to have little to no effect. Prozac and Seroxat being top of the pops for having the most side effects. Many patients report a negative swing from the drugs, ie. they feel lower than they originally were, many reports indicate that these two drugs in particular appear to have the ability to induce 'intrusive thoughts' and 'suicidal thoughts', which is extremely distressing both to the patient and the wider medical community.

These drugs do have a more positive response in clinical / acute depression. This is surprising considering the effects on a milder form of depression.

However, in my opinion, from my own experience of depression, the answer is to treat the cause of depression, not to just alleviate the symptoms. And these 'so called' anti depressants will only treat the symptoms. I found that 'working' on finding the root cause of the depression was the best way. And once I'd found it, ceasing to behave in such a way started my journey back to a place where I am now truly happy.

Buddhists believe that we are the cause of our own suffering in this life, this could be true of depression too.
Ask yourself a question - What am I depressed about? Why? How? And can I change this?

This is just a suggestion, it worked for me.
Take care and good luck

I have used St John's Wart and SAM-e. They are both effective.

Look up symptoms of thyroid disorder--if you have more than just the trouble with weight loss and mood effects, you might want to invest in a thyroid test.

It's a common cause of depression that's way underdiagnosed, and so simple to help. If you do have a thyroid problem, a simple pill every day will level it out. AND it isn't the same as taking mood-altering drugs; it's meant to regulate thyroid function. Mood stabilizing is just a benefit =].

Homeopaths aren't doctors.

A few medical doctors use homeopathic treatments as a placebo when they believe their patients are not ill enough to require medical treatment.

Whenever you are trying to lose weight, you should concentrate on these three things which all work together in providing a healthier and quicker weight loss goal for yourself. I have found this combination really successful in my weight loss plans. The first thing is exercising and how much you can put forth into it. The more you exercise, the more results you will see. The next thing is dieting and the calorie intake. If you exercise more, technically you could eat more? Always watch what you eat.

Now the last step in a good weight loss plan is always a good diet pill that can help you get to the end of the road. I have found Proactol which is a natural herbal diet pill to be the best around. It's an appetite suppressant along with being a fat blocker which stops up to 28% of fat you eat. Read up about it at TheWeightLossPlace .com where I saved money on it. Proactol really works well with exercising which gives you plenty of energy to perform. Along with that your diet will be affected by Proactol due to the appetite suppressant and fat blocker. If you slip up on meals, the fat blocker kicks in. It's really great to stop food cravings.

Concentrate on those three things and the combination is deadly for the fat cells in your body. Good luck and I hope this helps.
