Regular Ibuprofen is 200mg per tablet. In my pharmacy we have prescription strengths up to 800mg. That would be equal to 4 regular over the counter tablets. You don't say whether your friend plans to take all 6 at once, or spread them thu the day. If it IS all at once, they could cause stomach problems. Also some people find that Ibuprofen makes them tired. Hope this helped.

taking 6 will not hurt you. it is recommended that you do not take more than 6 in 24 hours though.

make you very sick...i guess for some it could cause a seizure. i took 4 one time because i was having very bad neck pain. my stomach did not like that. i threw up all night and had stinging in my stomach.

If it's a one time thing.. not much, truth be told.

you could die. why do u want to try anyway. its stupid.

If they are the over-the-counter strength it probably won't do anything. It may cause nausea/vomiting if taken with an empty stomach. IBProfen can cause liver damage if taken long term.

1200 mg ibuprofen one time will probably do nothing to harm a person as long as they don't take it on an empty stomach.

i used to pitch in high school and i would take 4 before getting on the bus and 4 more when i started warming up. never got sick, had seizures or anything of the sort.

Taking six at one time is twice the prescription dose of ibuprofen. You risk stomach irritation and kidney damage do please don't take more than two every four hours. If you are in severe pain, please see a doc for a better med.

Here is the thing, a doctor can prescribe motrin 800 for you to take every 4-6 hours for pain. A motrin 800 is equivalent to 4 of the 200 mg pills that your friend is saying they will take. So, if they take 6, chances are they will get a stomach ache of have no problems at all. Nothing more, nothing less. It is not too smart of a move though because too much motrin (ibuprofen) can cause damage to the liver.

I dont think u should take them.
Cause i love you !
God loves you !

Its just sillyyy :)

yeahh but anyway

i have already ranted to u enough ;)

I am not a doctor, but here's what I know:

Ibuprofin (the generic form of Advil) is a pain reliever and when taken in large quantities a muscle relaxer. An overdose can damage your organs--especially your liver.

Other possible effects include dizziness, vision problems, diarrhea, vomitting, headache, feeling buzzed. An overdose can cause siezure, internal bleeding, breathing porblems, heart attack.....etc.

Some of these effects--especially the liver damage build over time--so you could take it and feel fine (especially since that high a does will mask some overdose symptom pain), even though it's doing damage.

6 ibuprofen is probably not enough to produce the most serious side effects if taken just once--but there are several variables--how much ibuprofen is in each pill and how much does the person taking the pills weigh. A lower dose or a higher weight will make the risks less. However, every person reacts differently and medical conditions and other medicines will affect how much ibuprofen is safe.

Regardless of how low or high the risks seem, it is foolish--even dangerous--to not follow the instructions on the bottle unless under the supervision of a licensed medical professional.

It seems a lot of people answering have very different "facts" about ibuprofen. Unfortunately, its the only OTC analgesic I can take, so me an' the IB are best of friends.

OTC ibuprofen ONLY comes in 200mg. That's it. You can look if you want to, but I promise you won't find it any higher than that.

The highest prescription strength ibuprofen available is 800mg. This is because the maximum dosage is 800mg up to 3 times daily (total of 2400mg)

Taking excessive amounts of ibuprofen over a long period of time (and drinking alcohol while taking ibuprofen) can lead to gastrointestinal ulcers (ouch!) BUT with TYLENOL (acetaminophen, available OTC in 325mg or 500mg, pick your flavor) you're almost guaranteed some sort of liver damage if you exceed 4000mg in 24 hours. It's way more dangerous than ibuprofen in high doses. Taking 1200mg of ibuprofen at once will probably just make you feel like crud, or you might yack it back up. Definitely take it with food, if you must. But most importantly, don't take a LOT over a long period of time (meaning, don't take 1200mg three times a day for a week+!) If you need to take more over the course of the day, try to still stay within the 2400mg range (that's a TOTAL of 12 pills in 24 hours) and try to space out when you take them by at LEAST 6 hours (8 hours is best, but 6 hours will do if you're really hurting)

Remember, your liver has to process all this. Please be kind to it, k?

Damage the liver severely.

Overdose or severe damage to your kidney & liver.

Symptoms of an ibuprofen overdose may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, shallow breathing, fainting, or coma.
If you suspect an overdose, contact medical help immediately.
