Are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat the same as omega 3 and 6?!
Question: I like taking a essential fatty acid supplement for health and I work out. From what I read omega3 is polyunsaturated and omega6 is monounsaturated? I know this is a deep question that probly no one knows but if I just bought a bottle of canola oil with poly and mono wouldnt it be the same thing as spending big $ on a product that claims it has omega3 and omega6?

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids are TYPES of polyunsaturated and monosaturated fats. Canola oil is derived from the rapeseed, while Omega 6 is derived from borage and evening primrose oil, among other sources, and Omega 3 in found sources such as flaxseed oil, fatty fish, walnuts and pumpkin seeds.
Short answer; they are very differnt from canola oil.
Also, the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 is important, so taking a supplement that is created for maxium absorbtion is worthwhile.
I hope that helps a little!
