Mixing Supplements/Energy Drinks?!

Question: My boyfriend drank two Howling Monkey Energy Drinks today about the same time that he took Thyro-Vital, a thyroid supplement (Tyrosine). He is NOT under the care of a dr for this drug. It's an herbal supplement.
He went to work, freaked out, came home, drank a beer ("To take the edge off") and went to bed. By the time I got home he was talking really fast, dilated pupils, couldnt follow my fingers with his eyes or meet mine, slack jawed and couldn't follow one train of thought for very long.

I told him the beer was a bad idea, because even though it is a depressant, it IS alcohol!
It took him hours to get out of this funk. It seemed like he was coming down off heroin or something.

wow, your boyfriend is alot like me. i used to do that and my girlfriend freaked out. i even called poisen control cuz i thought i might be having a heart attack! it is dangerous to mix supplements like that, cuz it messes with your heart. although unless he is overdosing on it (those contain caffine, and over something like 1200mg of caffine is dangerous,) it is him just having a bad reaction. drinking on top of it is bad, cuz it's just another chemical in his body. best thing to do it drink alot of water. if he wants to get a good ege for a workout or somthing, take L- arginine, it is a natural amino acid (found in protein), and has no negative effects. it makes the blood vessals open up thus making you "pump up" more. it may make you feel like your head is gonna explode, but it will do you no harm. avoid caffine while on this, it ounter acts the effect. i use it, and it works great. avoid stuff that messes with your heart and barin though, cuz it can really mess you up, or if taken in to concentrated of doses, kill you. assassins actually use concentracted caffine pills to kill people!

You have to break down and research the ingredients - most energy drinks contain "Caffiene." In addition that is the problem when it comes to herbal supplements - people like your boyfriend abuse them and only sets a spark to pull these supplements of the shelves while more responsible individuals have to suffer the consequences.
