Question: I was up all night in pain, which has subsided now thankfully, but without passing the stone....is there a natural remedy that will encourage stone to pass?

Yes, there are herbal formulas that can help with kidney stones. See your local qualified naturopath.

You must also drink tons of fluids as I am sure you already know and taking 500 mg Magnesium has been known to help.

Have you thyroid levels checked keeping in mind that in 2003 the Amer. Assoc. of Clinical Endocrinologist recommended lowering the upper level of the TSH testto 3 not 5 or 5.5 They need to go by symptoms anyway. Also the parathyroids can cause kidney stones. Have your vit. B12, folic acid, and vit D level checked. The thyroid causes almost everything both physical and mental. It is not often diagnosed until things start to go really bad. It is most likely(definitely in my mind) the cause of fibromyalgia, chromic fatigue, sleep apenea, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimers, cancer, heart attacks, strokes etc etc. I will be glad to provide you a list of conditions caused by the thyroid if you care to write: Thyroid, po Box 162, Afton, Tn 37616. This is medicines best kept secret. Think of all the money it makes. Good luck. For all you thyroid people, estimates run from 30-90% of the population, research this condition. Docs are not taught much about it and it can have devastating effects.

Check out this new supplement called chaga. It is documented as the world's strongest antioxidant. Go to the website www.mychaga.com/gfm2 click on black icon that says product movie and see it for yourself. You owe it too yourself to check it out

I get a lot of big kidney stones... mostly over 4 mm, but never bigger than 15 mm. I have found that increasing the anti-oxidants is the best bet. I drink LOTS of green tea and cranberry juice, eat a lot of blueberries, and although I don't think it is known for this, drinking grapefruit juice helps too. Also if you take pomegranate capsules it helps to fight future stones. Just started that a few months ago and have not had another one yet. For the nights when the pain just won't let you sleep try sleeping with a heating pad on your back. Talk to your doctor and tell him if you are not big on drugs. They may have more options. This is just what as worked best for me. GOOD LUCK!

You could try to dissolve them with cranberry juice or other means. A web search for "kidney stones" + dissolve might be of interest.
