What is the Best Eye Vitamin?!

Question: There are three well-known Eye Vitamin Products:

1) OcuVite - http://www.Bausch.com
2) ICaps - http://www.Alcom.com
3) EyeScience - http://www.EyeScience.com

I studied with several ophthalmologist and all three of these are given to their patients to maintain eye health and also to prevent or reverse Macular Degeneration so all are good products and are used about equally except for people who smoke. For smokers, we only gave EyeScience formulas because of increased safety.

In response to a common view that carrots and Vitamin A (beta-carotene) helps eyes, this is actually a bit of a myth. Vitamin A has shown to have some marginal benefit, but Vitamin A should NOT be taken by anyone who smokes, which increases their chance of developing lung cancer!

The other thing to know is that there was a famous study called AREDS that concluded that eye vitamins with certain key ingredients can actually stop Macular Degeneration - it's from this study that these three products really started to become mainstream products.

If you take any of these three, especially if you are age 50 or older, you will be doing pretty much one of the best things for your eyes by preventing Macular Degeneration. Personally, I gave EyeScience to my parents - they never smoked, but new studies since AREDS have shown significant advantages of LUTEIN to eye health and macular degneration, as well as grape seed extract and zeaxanthin, all of which EyeScience contains anyway.

So I guess my recommendation is EyeScience but either way, just make sure you use one sooner than later! It's almost a no-brainer to prevent a lot more pain and hassle (not to mention central vision loss!) later with getting Macular Degeneration and Blindness. Treatment once you get Macular Degeneration costs about $2000 a month, let alone the fact that by then you will not be able to see as well!

Foods rich in vitamin A will help to counteract night blindness, weak eyesight and also build resistance to respiratory infections.

Eat more foods rich in vitamin A

ie ~ fish liver oils, carrots, sweet potatoes, dark green and yellow vegies and eggs and yellow fruits.

Vitamin A works best with the B complex, vitamin D, Vit E, calcium, phosphorus and zinc ......... zinc is what's needed by the liver to get vitamin A out of its storage deposits ..........

Eat more foods rich in zinc ie ~ cold water fishes such as tuna and salmon, meat, liver, wheat germ, p0umpkin seeds, eggs and brewer's yeast.

Do not supplement with fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A unless under instructions from a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath ?

CHEERS
?

CARROTS

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables also keeps your eyes in good shape. You may have learned that the vitamin A in carrots aids night vision. Other fruits and vegetables help prevent two common aging-related eye diseases - cataract and macular degeneration - which afflict millions of Americans over age sixty-five. Regular use of carrot juice can remove the opacity of the lens and help to improve the sight.

I have been taking Omega 3 Fish Oil for over a year now and it is wonderful for my eyes. No more dry eyes, no more irritation. It beats a prescription, and the omega 3 also helps with your heart. I take 2 1000 mg. per day, one in the morning and the other early evening. Good luck
