Problem is - if you believe in something it's likely that you wont be thinking it's ridiculous to believe in it.

In other words, there's not such a thing of ridiculous beliefs. Everyone should respect others for their beliefs, as long those do not put others in danger.
But, who makes the definition of ridiculeous beliefs? who is right and who is wrong? what it means is someone is thinking they have the power to ridicul someone because they don't agree with there beliefs! we are all different so believe in different things, so no people should not be ridiculed just excepted for who they are.
Actually, no. I think organized religions are fairly ridiculous as a whole, but that doesn't give me the right to ridicule the practitioners of those religions.

No ones beliefs are ridiculous. They are someones beliefs and should be respected even if you might not agree. Especially if their beliefs are not causing anyone any harm but instead bringing a great deal of relief and benefit to a lot of people.
