Does anyone know anything about using essential oils for healing?!

Question: Does anyone know anything about using essential oils for healing!?
Answers:
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants ~ and some animal extracts ~ for psychological and physical wellbeing!. It is a holistic practice that incorporates mnd, body, pleasure and healing and has been used for centuries throughout the world to treat conditions ranging from minor physical blemishes to near fatal illnesses!.

The essential oils derived from the leaves, petals, bark and roots of plants are highly concentrated essences and contain powerful vitamins and enzymes !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. because they are so concentrated, they are used only in tiny doses and work best when diluted ie ~ bath water, humidifier, inhaled from a bottle or combined with other oils and sometimes applied directly to the skin !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. i most definitely do believe in the physical and mental healing power of essential oils!.

you should never take essential oils internally!. some essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy as well as by people with asthma, epilepsy or other medical health conditions also!. Check with a naturopath or a nutritionally oriented physician about the safety of each ingredient before using any essential oil !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. also keep essential oils away from children as even in small amounts many oils may be toxic?

The ones i've had personal experience with are Peppermint oil, lavender oil and eucalyptus oil!.

Pure essential peppermint oil is brilliant for nasty headaches and migraines!. Simply put 2 - 3 drops onto a cotton ball and inhale the wonderfull minty vapours for a minute or two ~ ensuring not to get it on your skin as it will either irritate or sting it!. Then lie down for 15 - 20 minutes in a cool dark room!.

Peppermint oil is also one of the most important oils for treating problems of the digestive system as it stimulates bile production and stimulates and strengthens the liver ~ it will help eliminate a tummy ache, expel gas, ease nausea and indigestion too!.

It is also a mental stimulant and will help give you clarity of mind and thought and promote positive thinking and can ease heart palpitations!.

Avoid use of peppermint oil during pregnancy or while breastfeeding and use only small quantities!.

Lavender oil is brilliant too!.!.!.!.!. if you can only choose one oil this would be it ?

it is safe and versatile and gentle and may be used undiluted over very small areas!.

Lavender oil is an antiviral, antiseptic and has antibiotic properties combined with the ability to loosen and expel mucus!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. great for use in a chest rub for throat infections, coughs, colds and bronchitis!.

It is also renowned for its effective relief of the pain and inflammation caused by arthritis, muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, sciatica and muscular pain arising from stress and tension!. The best way of utilising lavender oil for these probs is in a synergistic massage or bath blend with other oils where it will strengthen their properties!.

lavender is a great stress leveller and can create calm and order from mental chaos to harmonise and balance every aspect of our bodies and minds!.!.!.!.!.!.!. it will help lift depression and also ease headaches and insomnia!.

Caution: Avoid use during the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy, longer if there is a history of miscarriage and also avoid whilst breastfeeding?

Eucalyptis oil ~ has long been respected for its ability to lower temperatures and help the respiratory tract by loosening and removing mucus during attacks of bronchitis, coughs, flu, sinusitis and throat infections!. Its antiviral and antibacterial action will deter further growth of the bacteria or virus?

Put a capfull into a spray bottle, fill with water, shake well and use as a sanitiser or disinfectant for table tops, benches, door handles bathroom and toilet surfaces ?

Put a capfull of eucalyptus oil into a hot bath and soak in that for 15 - 20 minutes luxuriously inhaling the steamy wonderfull vapours!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. this will help enormously in loosening congestion and mucus from your chest and respiratory tract when you have a cold or flu!.

Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil also onto a hanky and lie it next to your pillow at night to help ease breathing!.

Fill a salad bowl with hot water and put 1/2 a capfull of eucalyptus oil into it ~ make a tent with a towel over your head and lean over the bowl and inhale the steamy eucalypt vapours !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. this will loosen any mucous from your chest and ease breathing also !.!.!.!.being carefull not to get so close that you burn your face?

Caution ~ Do not use eucalyptus oil if you suffer from epilepsy or high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant or breast feeding !.!.!.!.!.!.!. if either is the case simply substitute with tea tree oil which is also a brilliant antiviral and antibacterial?

Also, please don't use on infants or young children as their immature digestive and neural systems will be put at risk ?

Also do not ingest any oil unless under the specific instructions of a naturopath or nutritionally oriented physician ?

Organic & pure essential oils will always be the only choice too as the commercial varieties have had all the goodness pulverised from them and could never possibly have any therapeutic benefits ?

Go to the bookstore hun & buy yourself a comprehensive handbook on aromatherapy which will guide and steer you in putting all these wonderfull oils to the very best possible use!.

hope you have as much pleasure seeking and learning about essential oils and their therapeutic purposes as i have ?

hope this helps a bit ?
