Question: Need help with a do it yourself solution!?
A friend would like to detox self of methadone because he does not have ins!. for program!. He is on 40mg and from asking around, that is not such a high dose to worry!. Please just help!. ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a nurse and medical site director for a county jail facility!. I get a lot of patients through here that have to be detoxed off many different drugs!. Unfortunately, there is no detox program for methadone, since it is technically a detox program itself!. The best thing is to just stop cold turkey!. The worst, of any, withdrawal symptoms will peak between days 3-5 (it takes 72 hours for the drug to leave the system, then the body starts to react), so just have him ride it out and remember to KEEP HYDRATED!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
