Package insert says to a) NEVER burn them unless you have a drip pan like an aluminum pie plate around them, and to b) stop burning them when they are 4" long!. I've been known to cheat a little and go to 3 inches, but I know what I'm doing, and I am disinclined to be stupid enough to light myself on fire or to burn myself!.!.!.hopefully you will be, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got these before and was amazed at what kind of stuff came out of my ears!. Then my boyfriend had me do a test!. (He didn't believe in them!.) He had me put one of them in my ear and let the other one burn on its own without putting it in an ear!. We let them both burn for the same amount of time and checked the results!. Both of the ear candles had the same amount of wax in them!. It was a crock!. I was sad!. I thought it was an awesome way to clean my ears, but it was just a sham!.
