Low energy and anxiety - alternative cures?!

Question: Low energy and anxiety - alternative cures!?
Throughout my life I've had issues with anxiety!. I also sometimes have low energy/ am irritable to those closest to me!. I am meditating, eating right, working out, sleeping 8 hours a night, but I still have these issues!. (I also have tried therapy!.) Does anyone know of other things that may help!? Maybe herbal supplements!? (I'm on birth control though - so no St!. John's wort) Or am I just stuck this way!.

Thanks much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It seems like the low energy may be related to your anxiety, and I bet treating your anxiety will help with your energy levels!.

I find that what worked best for my anxiety is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy!. It works better than meds, and was the only thing that truly helped me!.

Also, some books that worked for me are:
-The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook by Bourne
-Mind Over Mood by Greenberger and Padesky

There are many great natural sedatives out there, but the true answer is that it depends on the individual!. Some people respond better to an herb/medicine than others!. It's trial and error, really!. What's good for one may not work for you!.

That said, the particularly strong ones are: Kava Kava and Valerian Root, either together or separate (together will be more sedating), 5-HTP or Tryptophan (do not use if you are taking any anti-depressants), Passion Flower, Biofeedback, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a tea or tablet with Valerian, Kava, Hops, Passion Flower, and/or chamomile!.

Not as strong, but worth mentioning: Carbohydrates are sedating, warm baths (sleep is associated with a drop in body temp, so getting out of the bath will make you more sleepy), Calms Forte, warm milk, calcium and magnesum powder for tea like "Calm!."

Technically, alcohol is natural, but I would not suggest using it as a sedative due to its addictive properties and the fact that it is also associated with being stimulating and interfering with sleep and wake activities!.

One word of caution: Natural meds are still drugs, in that they may have side effects and may interact with meds you are or will be taking!. Please ask your doctor before taking any, or in the very least, look up for interactions online!.

From a metaphysical point of view, it appears that you don't really look forward to living life very much!. This could be a reason why you have low energy!. As for being irritable towards those closest to you, it could be that low self-esteem (the thought process of "I don't deserve to be loved, so I will make you hate me!.") causes you to lash out at those that love you the most!.

Get the book & DVD by Louise L!. Hay called, "You Can Heal Your Life"!. If you don't take care of the anxiety now, you will have serious health problems in less than 10 years!. Keep meditating, though that is supposed to help you control your thoughts, so I don't know why that isn't working for you!. It is great that you actually sleep 8 hours at night, but it might not be the soundest sleep that you can get!.

No, you are not "stuck" in any way, unless you want to be!.

Change your thoughts, change your life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bach's Rescue Remedy is always good to have on hand for anxiety attacks!.

(For nutritional balance and adrenal support)

Calcium 2000 mg daily - a natural tranquilizer
Magnesium 600 mg daily - relieves tension, spasms, tics
B-1 50mg 3 times daily - has a calming effect on the nerves!.
B-6 50mg 3 times daily - important in the production of certain brain chemicals!.
Zinc- 50 mg daily - can have a calming effect
Chromium Picolinate - 200 mcg!. daily - Chromium deficiency can produce symptoms of anxiety!.

Gingko Biloba increases circulation, which boosts energy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you would like to do some research go to pub med and in the search box type in glutathione and the health challenge you face!.

You could also do a Yahoo or web browser search on Glutathione and Disease

This one protein is probably more responsible for our health than we know!. There are some simple dietary ways to increase it in our body!.

Some have found increased energy and less anxiety!.

Also, look at and search for the foods you would want to eat and the foods to avoid!. The North American diet is depleted in the building blocks of glutathione!.

There is an interesting theory on eating a healthy diet and bringing our body back into balance to eliminate problems like you mention!. It requires avoiding toxins, only eating organic milk, meat, and foods!.

In this theory, supplements are only taken when it is not possible to get them in the food!. Some supplements can actually cause more problems than they do good if not taken at the right time or in the right combination!.

Best wishes!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You said you are eating right, but what do you concider "right"!? There is no "right" that is right for everybody!.
Many people react negatively (and not by having skin rashed or suffocating necessarily, but often by changes that are thought to be "emotional", but in reality are linked to food intolerances) to common foods that are proclaimed "healthy" by doctors,, such as:

sugar
dairy
grains (especially glutenous)
legumes
nuts

If no remedy helps straight out, I would try elimination diet (in which you completely eliminate a certain group of foods for 2-3 weeks and journal your well-being)

I am "high-strung" (i!.e anxious) person myself!. What helps me is never one single thing but a combination of:

enough physical activity
+
plenty of fresh air (especially if you live in a city and work in the office like I do)
+
lots of water
+
regular sleeping schedule
+
eating right FOR ME
+
Rescue Remedy now and then!.

Wish you the best!Www@Answer-Health@Com
