Magnesium/Calcium supplement causing muscle cramps and twitches?!

Question: Magnesium/Calcium supplement causing muscle cramps and twitches!?
I started taking a calcium magnesium supplement and immediately started getting this weird twitch in my ear that's very sensitive to low frequencies, and I'm also much more prone to cramping in my legs!. The supplement has 300mg of Calcium (25%RDA) and 350mg of Magnesium (75%RDA) both in "ionized" form, whatever that means!. It also contains trace amounts of other minerals like boron and has B-6, B-12, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin D, all in relatively low levels (all below 100% RDA)!.

I thought Magnesium was supposed to help ease cramps and twitches, not cause them!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I would take a magnesium supplement (magnesium chloride f!. ex!.) alone, without the calcium

Yes, magnesium helps ease cramps!. That's quite true!. So your reaction is due to something else!.

I use all natural OsteoMatrix!. It has 1,000 mg calcium, 400 mg magnesium, 400 IU vitamin D and 3 mg boron!. Yes, it should help with muscle cramps!. I used to get terrible "charley horses" and I never get them anymore!.

It could be that it contains artificial additives which can cause problems and you can't necessarily know this from reading what ingredients it contains because all ingredients aren't required to be listed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A very "cheap" solution! Go to the grocery store and buy , I can't think of the name of it, soda water!. It has quinine in it!. Take 4 oz!. of it every night and your muscle cramps will go away!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you really want to help yourself with this situation go see an acupuncturist!. They know more about the body than any doctor I've ever met!.

Enjoy!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Magnesium will definitely help with muscle cramping and twitching and works in tandem with calcium in the body !.!.!.!.!.!.!. The best food sources of magnesium are organic nuts, seeds, and deep, dark, leafy greens!.!.!. regularly consuming these foods may mean you may not need extra magnesium!.!.!.!.!.!. eating more organic brown rice will supply you with extra magnesium also!.

Magnesium should be taken with your other supplements and/or food!. Split your supplemental intake into 2 or more doses daily!.

The best and easiest to assimilate form of Magnesium is in a chelated form (bound to) combinations such as alpha-ketogluconate, aspartate, glycinate, lysinate, orotate, taurate and others!. Inorganic or ionic magnesiums include sulphate, oxide, citrate, carbonate, bicarbonate and chloride!.!.!.!. all terribly hard to digest!.!.!.!. please don't take them !.!.!.!.Some supplement companies make so-called chelated magnesiums but the chelate (bound to) is partial and the raw material contains some percentage of ionized, unbound or inorganic magnesium!.!.!.!.!.!. also all very hard for the body to assimilate and would therefore actually hinder the absorption of all your nutrients!.!.!.!.!. I would say that this is your problem buddy!.!.!.!.!.!. the supplement is poor quality and is actually producing more cramps and twitching because of the extra stress it is placing on your system!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Ionized magnesium may also cause diarrhea in many users and, therefore, not correct a cellular magnesium deficiency!. Diarrhea, or soft stools, caused by any form of magnesium can make a magnesium deficiency worse!.

Pump up your intake of foods rich in magnesium such as leafy and green vegies, organic almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds, wholegrain breads and organic brown rice instead and you will likely resolve your cramping and twitching!.

hope this helps u
