Are chiropractors any good?!

Question: Are chiropractors any good!?
We have a few in my country but doctors are very reluctant to refer me to one!. Would i need to take an MRI with me if i decide to see a chiropractor!? I wouldn't like to do more damage than good!. Medication and exercise have done nothing for my back pain so i am wondering if i should just go to a chiropractor without a doctor's referral!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thats a tough one because there are some chiropractors, like all doctors, who are just out for money!. Your best bet is what your doing, ask locally, call each office and ask if they have any clients who would be willing to give them a reference!. Be careful there though too they might just give you their easy cases!. I have only had 1 bad chiropractor out of 3!. The difference was the bad one cracked my back in the same three spots every time I came in and told me I woul have to come 3 times a week for possibly a year if not the rest of my life!. That is ridiculous! I dont know what kin of pain or injury you have, but I have lower back issues along with a few car accidents and have had two children!. The good chiro I saw, felt my spine up and down ever visit I had with him, sometimes he woudl do the same thing sometimes he would work on different areas!. He had me come twice a week for the majority of my visits with him and within 2 months I was fixed!. He said the longest I would have to go depended on my pain and what swelling he could feel!. Now thats a good DR! So use your judgment, but I put all my faith in chiro work, it can help things from back pain to eye problems with all the nerves that can be pinched off!. Headaches, dzziness, the list goes on!. Definitly worth it if you find a good one and decide thats what you need!. They will start you out with an x-ray and consultation!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Doctors are generally very unwilling to refer to chirporactors because they don't like what they can't control!.
It does depend what country you are in as not every country has registration protocols!.
I'm UK trained Osteopath and while practicing in the UK struggled wth the medical etablishment!.
Regulation hs helped but there are still die hard conventional medics who would never refer to us and would routinely throw referal letters from us into the bin!.

I now practice in new Zealand where chiropractic and osteopathy is more manistream but it still has a long way to go!.
Most patients self refer and once they've seen us don't bother going to their GP if they have musculoskeletal pain because we are suitably skilled to establish if a patient is safe to treat or if they should be refered on!.

Check to see if Chiropractors are regulated in your country!. If they are you should be fine but I would see someone who has been recommended to you!.
By all means take your MRI with you as this may be helpful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a massage therapist and have worked for Chiropractors now for the last 4 years!. I was reluctant as well until I started hearing and seeing(feeling) patients recovering physical problems from adjustments!. With all dr's there are good and bad!. What is your current back condition!? If you have an MRI already your Chiro would probably appreciate it, but not necessary to get one before you see the Chiro!. They should take an xray along with full medical history before touching you!. If possible you will want to go to a Chiro that has massage therapist working with him!.her!. Massage therapy and Chiropractic care complement each other to get better, faster results that last longer!. You will want to ask around and see if you can get any recommendations of better Chiropractors in town!. When you start your therapy they may request you to come a couple of times a week, but this should only last a couple of weeks!. Let me know if you have any more questions!. Good luck =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The doctor will not refer you to a chiropractor, they feel they are not medically accredited,so they will not refer them!. A chiropractor can be of great help, they have certainly helped me! Go see one and tell him your problem, I'm sure they can help you! Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to be very wary of chiropractors until my daughter started working for one!. I have now been treated for 18 months and i cannot stress the wonders it has done for my health!. You need to look around to find a good one, maybe word of mouth!. you will not regret it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
