Metronidazole & Fluconazole, Can i take them together?!

Question: Metronidazole & Fluconazole, Can i take them together!?
I have been given a dose of Metronidazole tablets to take for 5 days, does anyone know if i can take a single dose of Fluconzole whilst on this course of antibiotics!?!?
I have read through both leaflets but it doesnt state whether other medication can be taken or not!.
Thank you to all that answer :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
if ur in the uk then u would have only got metronidazole on prescription so it is safe to take it!. as far as i know it is ok to take it flucanazole with it, however, its possible that the thrush will return as ur taking antibiotics and thats one of the main causes of thrush!. the advice is usually wait till u have completed the antibiotics if u can then take the flucanazole, however if u cant wait because of yr symptoms then take it now but u may have to take another tablet after completion of the antibiotics to be sure the thrush has gone!. make sure if ur buying it over the counter that u get the generic version (flucanazole) rather than the branded (diflucan, canestan) as its much cheaper!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Were you prescribed both these meds!? If not then dont take them!

I am a nurse and I just looked up these 2 meds in the database and both of them had "hypersensitivity to fluconazole" and "hypersensitivity to metronidazole" under the contraindications! SO!.!.!. please consult your MD!. =)

Edit: BUT they are not listed as major or minor contraindicated medications to one another!. I say just be careful and dont DRINK alcohol!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you can, there are no drug interaction/contradictions between the two drugs!. These drugs are often prescribed together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can take them both together, in fact you might be prescribed them that way if your GP was treating BV!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
