Would you trust a D.O. doctor or a Naturopathic Doctor over a regular MD?!

Question: Would you trust a D!.O!. doctor or a Naturopathic Doctor over a regular MD!?
Im a pre-med student!. I love medicine!. HOWEVER, lately i've been exposed to the different options i have to go to graduate schools!. Med schools are ultra competitive and super expensive!. The material covered in other medical schools is identical (medicine is medicine) my question arises becasue if i begin my own practice will people be hesitant to come because they don't know what a DO or Naturopathic Doctor is/are ( D!.O!. focus treatment of diseases and symptoms through whole body treatments, Naturopathic doctors, do not use drugs only natural herbs and things of that nature---this is where my interest is!.!.!.!.but so is putting food on the table ) THANXWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I would definitely trust a DO! I believe that the whole body approach is growing in fashion and soon more people will prefer DO's to regular, old-fashioned MD's!. DO's seem to be more in tune with overall healing, instead of focusing on a small part at a time!. This fits in with the growing trend of people wanting a different approach to healthcare, because many of us are not satisfied with the traditional way!.
Good luck in med school, whichever path you take! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

NDs are licensed here in my state, so there are a few around, but generally people don't seem to know what they are!. If you go to Osteopathic medical school, do yourself a favor and learn all the Osteopathic manipulation that you can!. This is what really sets DOs apart from MDs!. I've seen too many DOs who were MD-wanna-bes, and focused on drugs and surgery in school, and now they don't really know anything about Osteopathy!.
But -- if your interest and passion really are in herbs and food cures, go to Naturopathic medical school, because what's the point of going through the whole thing if you end up in a place you're not excited about!. If you are good at what you do, and enthusiastic about doing it, people will find you!.
Good luck, and have fun!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would not trust a naturopath with my health, period!. You realize these people promote magical homeopathy nonsense don't you!? And typically are anti-vaccination!?

Stick to the medical science, it actually works beyond placebo, and you will have credibility!.

EDIT: TJ21, re quackwatch: nice (unfounded) argument from ad hominem there!. Your an MD!? Dr Barrett is not a complete idiot, he is a consumer protection hero!. You should know better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm an N!.D!. and all the people I studied with are not working!
It's pretty hard for us to make money in the real world!. Doctors have all the help they need via drug companies, government etc!.
I think you should think about the money and become a really good M!.D!. one that helps as well as makes money!
You don't get nothing in this world without money!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not all about putting food on the table mate !.!.!.!.!. how can you possibly get passionate about being a regular MD if your heart lies in wholistic healing!?!? By doing what you are truly excited and passionate about your vibrance and energy will radiate around you and attract patients like a shining light!.

You need to follow your heart here and stand up for what you believe in for it is only when the Soul and Personality are in Harmony that everything will be Joy, Peace, Health & Vitality!.

Hunger only for a taste of Justice, Hunger only for where the Truth is cos all that you have is your Soul!.

Here in NJ there are DO's in group practices with MD's, and I have been to both!. As far as I know people don't have a preference for one or the other!.
Naturopathic doctors are a whole other discussion, as you know!. After some years of frustration with western medicine, I went to a naturopath and appreciated the results!. As far as I can tell, naturopaths advertise in directories aimed at people who shop in small stores for herbs and vitamins, etc!. I have the impression the income for a naturopath is a lot less than for a typical MD or DO!. The naturopath I saw was part of a group practice of people who practice holistic methods, and she appeared to be healthy and busy!. It would depend on where you practice: in some places you'd starve, and in other places on either the east or west coast, you'd have a good life!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

The D!.O!. Curriculum and training are essentially identical to MD training, the schools are just slightly easier to get into, and somewhat less expensive!. D!.O!.'s use the same medical procedures, same treatments and so on as regular M!.D!.s!. Quite literally the only difference is that they receive additional training in muscular-skeletal systems!. The difference essentially lays in the ease of getting into school!.

Your average person doesn't really know the difference between the two degrees, and probably wouldn't care!. Both are considered medical doctors under the law, both can advertise themselves as legitimate doctors!. The only difference will be the two letters after the name on the door!.

Naturopaths on the other hand aren't legally considered medical doctors!. From the pieces I've seen of their training over the years, the curriculum in most schools for it seems to be sorely, woefully lacking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

okay honestly the way the medical profession is between MDs,DOs,NDs and DCs (chiropractors)

some of my fellow colleagues still want to be rid of NDs and DCs, mainly because these were the people who were in medical school during the 50s/60s and were taught the by now my profession MD would control all health related regulations!. Some of them currently are on the warpath against NDs over the last few years, but even more years against DCs!.
Personally if you really are thinking of being a DO or ND, i suggest at this time maybe go for being a DO, only because the AMA (i never joined it) is the cause of alot of health field problems (the organization is still in the 50s/60s mentality and most of them still people a patient should never be told about her/his options for treatment)!.

and currently with healthy people 2010 being defeated causing them to extend to the new healthy people 2020, it looks pretty bad for NDs and DOs

sidenote: quackwatch is never to trust!. the guy is a complete idiot, he is a psychiatrist who failed to qualify to be a surgeon!. and is bitter against others!. Currently he is actually being in the process of losing 1!. the website
2!. his practice license
3!. his assets
because he failed a licensing exam and has been practicing illegally as a psychiatrist!. the AMA has officially withdrawn their support of him (they had been secretly funding his website and his rallies)

keep in mind this though if you are believing more in natural medicine then go for being and ND, alternative medicine is rising but i mean by 2020 for sure i see no doubt NDs and DCs will be equal to us MDs and DOs in terms of respect (mainly because the major opposition will be all in their graves)

another sidenote:
NDs though do have more respect than DCs (im sure you have heard of AMSA and well NDs are the largest membership rising in the organization)Www@Answer-Health@Com
