R!.W!. Knudsen makes a beverage called "Lemon Ginger Echinacea"!.!.!.!.it is amazing how quickly it kicks a cold!. The catch is you drink it at first sign of symptoms!. The longer your symptoms have been present, the less effective it is!. Even with that, it will help you get better quicker!. I like to heat it!.!.!.seems to work better for me that way!. It tastes like a spicy lemonade!.!.!.the ginger has a bit of a kick to it!.
I buy it in the health section of one of the larger grocery chains here as well as in the health food stores!.

Some additional things to try!.!.!.
Zinc!.!.!.boosts immune system!. You can find zinc lozenges made especially for colds, but personally I cannot stand the metallic taste it leaves in my mouth!. So I take zinc in capsule form!.!.!.50mg a day for 3-5 days!.
L-lysine!.!.!.an amino acid that kills viruses!. What a deal!. Find it in the supplement section of most larger stores and health food stores!. Take 1000mg daily in divided doses!.
Vitamin C does support immune response!. A good way to take it is to buy the powdered product called
Emer-gen-C!. There are many flavors!. (I like super orange best)!. Emer-gen-C has a full gram of vitamin C along with a mineral complex and some B vitamins!.!.!. it will give you a little extra energy as a bonus (better than caffiene)!.
Another product out that works quite well is Zicam!. Find it among the cold products!. It is available in many forms!.!.!.chewable tablets, nasal swabs (my preference), and nasal mists!.

It helps to take hot soaks to bring the body's temperature up!. Viruses cannot survive high temps!.!.!. which is why we run fevers!.!.!. Soak for at least 20 minutes, then stay wrapped up and keep warm!. Lots of liquids, especially hot teas!. Avoid cold drinks, they bring your temperature down and allow the virus to thrive (viruses like it when you are cooler)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no *Cure* for a cold!. Period!. A cold is a virus that your immune system must get rid of on its own!. There are things you can do to help strengthen your immune system and thereby fight the cold better!. Take echinacea, chewable zinc, and vitamin C 500 mg every two hours to strengthen immune system function!. To help you feel better faster, drink lots of water and warm tea with honey, stay away from cold drinks, and get plenty of rest!. In order to help your cough be more productive, drink warm salvia officianalis tea [sage] with honey!. Make it by pouring boiling water over the sage leaves and steeping for a few minutes!. Add honey and drink!. Salvia is an expectorant and helps dry up body fluids!. [Obviously, you can not drink this while you are nursing as it also dries up milk supply!.]

There is one other important thing to understand here -- your stuffy nose and cough are not symptoms -- they are a natural, healthy immune system response to the virus!. When using naturopathic treatment for a cold, these immune system responses are not always eased and generally even increase a bit until your body has fought off the cold!.

Well you can't have an alternative cure for a cold when there is not even a conventional cure for a cold!.

Therapeutic Vit C, echinacea, etc are of NO benefit, all of the latest good quality independent studies confirm this!. In fact Vit C has been shown to lengthen the duration in children!.

Use over the counter cold and flu medication to relieve symptoms, get plenty of fluids and rest, and your cold will go away on its own in 1-2 weeks!.
