I've taken it for about 6 yrs!. now and swear by it!. I take the 3mg and usually one pill works to help me fall asleep!. You can override it if you don't go to bed after taking it, though!. It works in about 20-30 minutes and doesn't give you a hung-over feeling in the morning, either!. It's safe and no side effects at all for me!. I have even given it to my son (just a piece of one) and his DR!. told me it's a perfectly fine for once in awhile for kids, so you KNOW it's mild!. I'd highly recommend it for those who have trouble shutting down at night to sleep, like me!. I still wake during the night, so it won't drug you out, either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the objective of your question is to increase melatonin then please note that the retina can produce melatonin, under darkness, without the pineal gland!. Melatonin exists in small quantities in many plant species, including oats, sweet corn, rice, ginger, tomatoes, bananas and barley!. Intake of other foods such as kelp, soy beans, pumpkin seeds, water melon seeds, almonds, peanuts, yeast, malt, and milk helps to increase the body's melatonin production!. We get tryptophan from foods like tofu, roasted pumpkin seeds, gluten flour, and almonds!.

So to increase melatonin and serotonin: sleep in complete darkness so the retina can do it's job, eat foods rich in melatonin, tryptophan and vitamin B6, fast in the early evening, and get sunlight!
