Surgery is a specialty of medicine, so to become a surgeon it is necessary to first graduate from college, then to sit the MCAT exams to gain entrance to medical school, then to do 4 years of medical school then to specialize in surgery for several years!. Depending on your interests and abilities you could become a specialist in any of several branches of surgery: neurosurgery, abdominal, surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery etc!.

If you want to practice in the military, you still need to do all that training!. The armed forces have their own medical school: The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland!. The armed forces also offer scholarships for individuals who commit to serving after their training!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can tell you about the situation in my country, Serbia, if that would be of any help :)
Here, to become an army surgeon, you have to first finish the basic medical education, then to specialize in general&wartime surgery in the Military Medical Academy!. So, it's the same route as for the general surgeon, but you have to go to the MMA to apply for a specialization, and the general surgeons apply for a specialization in the civil hospitals!. Then, you will attend the specialization course (usually lasting a couple of years), during which you work with military surgeons and go to classes!.

Still, if the reason why you want to be a surgeon is to save lives, I can tell you with great certainty that you can save lives in any field of medicine (internal medicine, pediatric medicine, gynecology, oncology, emergency medicine!.!.!.), only surgeons do it quicker!.

Hope I've helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Either one is commendable!. I'm sure you can get an appointment with some type of military intake officer quite easily!. Do you already have all of your schooling!? If not, it may be possible that the military could provide it!.!.!.worth looking into!.
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
