How can I get my band teacher to be herself again?!

Question: How can I get my band teacher to be herself again!?
Last year, band was great!. We learned many songs, and had fun!. This year, our teacher is completely different!. It seems like all we've done since the beginning of the year are scales!. She has also been very bitter and has been getting super-pissed at students every few days!. It's seriously like she's had PMS every day!. How can I help her change!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

It may be something out of your control!. I'm a band teacher too and because our school cut back on my time with the students I've been very upset!. I haven't taken it out on my students, but I have been more upset with them missing the few rehearsals we actually have!. I have also been harder on them to learn their music because I know that the concert is coming up and if they don't learn it they will be dissappointed to only play one song in the concert!. So sometimes the push is necessary!. It could be a scheduling thing, maybe she found out she will be moved to another school next year or let go, or maybe it is personal home or health problems!. Maybe she has behavior problems in her classes this year and is upset with the amount of talking, gum chewing, etc!. during class!. There is nothing you can do to help her to change, except to be on your best behavior and to offer help wherever possible!. Be a good influence on the younger students and try to be a section leader!. Help your section to improve by offering to hold a sectional to teach them the music!. Be a leader and make her job as easy as possible because it sounds like she may a lot to deal with!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
