The salt helps breaks down the mucus and often dries it out and reduces it to flakes!. Salt is often soothing and healing to the mucosal lining of the sinuses!. Water by itself does not have curative properties in this usage!. By the way, you should use either water that has been boiled or distilled water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
the fluid in the body has a natural level of sodium in it, so adding the salt makes the water like regular body fluid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
