I've been called to a GU Medicine Clinic?!

if it's the clinic i think it is, it involves STI's and STD's!. They will probably just test you for any STI's or STD's!.
(sexually transmitted infections and sexually transmitted diseases incase you don't know)
they wouldn't call you any sooner because they're always kinda busy, and have waiting lists etc!.
If it was deathly serious then yes they would call you sooner!.

GU usually stands for genital-urinary!. It is also called a Urology Clinic and addresses problems with the kidneys (primarily kidney stones), bladder, prostate (men), and urination!. If you did not call to make an appointment yourself, I suspect in this case that it may involve informing you about a partner of yours that has had a sexually transmitted disease!.
