It's legal on a state level, however, the federal government doesn't recognize the states rights on the issue which means that the federal government will enforce the laws of marijuana prohibition because federal laws trump state laws!.
Medical marijuana is doctor recommended for many different reasons!. Not all doctors will prescribe it because there is a certain risk for them that goes with promoting it's use medically!.

After getting your medical card/license you can either go to a dispensary or you can choose a caregiver to grow plants for you!. The state won't take the initiative to find a provider of the medication for you, that's up to you and they won't promote a certain person or place to obtain your medicine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

marijuana is illegal federally!. that means that a federal officer, someone from the dea, fbi, atf, etc, can arrest anyone for having marijuana!. even if it is in a state where medical marijuana is legal!. the state law only applies to state law enforcement officials!. so since medical marijuana is legal in california, a california cop would not arrest you for using medical marijuana, however a federal police officer could, and they have on many occasions!. I think you should be allowed to grow anything you want!.

In them states if you have a permit, it's legal on the state, city, local level but the federal government it is illegal everywhere!.

So DEA can try to arrest you but, cops can't in them states!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only reason it's illegal is because the Government can't tax it or make money off of it, because you can grow it anywhere!.
