Does St John's wort actually work?!

Question: Does St John's wort actually work!?
Before going on any medication the doctor gives me, I would like to try a natural product first!.

Does it work!? I already have Kalms!. Does it have the same effect or should I use both!?

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A series of recent double-blind, placebo-controlled studies indicate that a specific extract of St Johns wort (Hypericum perforatum) was as effective as prescription antidepressants but had far fewer side effects and cost considerably less

In Germany, more than fifty percent of depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders are treated with St Johns Wort!.
I can tell you first hand, it works, and I have no side effects!.

There have been quite a few studies into the action of St John's Wort and they have not shown a clear picture if the plant has a place in medicine or not!.
For sure the plant has some active constituents and it is generally not recommended if you are taking other medication!.
If you don't want to take any medication you might like to think about asking your doctor if he would refer you to a cognitive psychotherapist!. I am making the assumption that you have some sort of anxiety, mood or sleep disorder!. a cognitive psychotherapist can help you overcome your problems by learning to behave in a different way!. This might sound a little odd but I have seen it work on many occasions and it has the added benefit that you are never dependent on medication but feel stronger and more empowered because you are shown how to control your own feelings and mood!.
ps!. I am not a cognitive psychotherapist but have spent much of my life as a professional in mental health!.
Here is a link to cognitive psychotherapy that you may wish to look at!.

St Johns wort does work, however you need to be under specailised supervision, with someone with lots of experience of its useage!.!. because it is also a toxic posion with quite strong side effects!.

I would suggest doing more research before indulging, there is plenty of research on the internet and this link will help you on the way, just because it is a natural remedy, you must not believe it isn't dangerous, be very cautious!.

It has been shown to be effective in mild/moderate depression in some people, and it acts on the same brain receptors as antidepressants!. Not all prescription antidepressants work on all people, so don't expect it to be a magic pill for you!. If it doesn't work!.!.!.it doesn't work!.

It can also have the same side effects as antidepressants (eg Serotonin syndrome) and should be taken only under the supervision of a qualified health professional (ie NOT a homeopath, naturopath etc) Www@Answer-Health@Com

I couldn't take St Johns Wort as it gave me palpitations and a panic type reaction!. I now take 5htp and that works very well!. I wouldn't be without it now - you can buy it from the health food store or over the internet!.

Stuff like Kalms doesn't do a great deal!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
