First of all, it sounds like you have already decided it is "effective" and are just looking for confirmatory evidence!.!.that's not how investigative journalism , or science, is done, but it is a hallmark of pseudo-science!. For the record!.!.!.somebody telling you an anecdote that it works for them, or their mom or their uncle billy is not evidence, just a barely interesting story!.

Acupuncture is one of the MOST studied of the various alternative medicine philosophies since being introduced to the West in the 1970's!.
The early studies were small, poorly designed and filled with possible sources of error!. Truly blinding either a patient or practitioner to acupuncture is very difficult!. In the last 10-15 years there have been studies of improved size, quality, and ways of blinding at least the patients!.

What has been shown, is that with increased rigour of investigation, there are less signs of effectiveness!. At best, there is very poor evidence that acupuncture may be useful for temporary relief of minor pain and nausea!. Also, if it works at all, the mechanism has nothing to do with magical chakras and making your chi flow properly!. It is certainly not as effective, reliable or predictable as conventional treatments!.

Acupuncture is often claimed to be thousands of years old, but in fact is only a few hundred years old, for what that's worth!. It was introduced to the West in the 1970's, and it was claimed the Chinese used acupuncture for surgical anesthesia!. That was actually a lie foisted on gullible journalists!. In fact in modern China, it's use is rapidly declining as they turn to the more effective western type of medicine!. It is still used by the poor, as that is all they can afford!.

Do proper research!. Don't form your conclusion before you have examined the evidence!. Heres' a good place to start

Sometimes it is!. Careful but, it isn't a treatment for all!.
It did heal my neck pain and some right lobe spasms!.
A pain I had for 20 years!.
And do not bother about the "SkepDog"!.
His soul and mind will not believe in acupuncture even if risen from death by the master of needles!.
Also, I do trust the Japanese and if they take over some ways of healing, they know the best it works!.

Always use a credited professional with at least 20 years of experience!.

omg yes!
acupuncture helped my mom quit smoking!.!.!.and she smoked for 34 years! a friend of hers recommended it and her friend did it and after one treatment she was fine!.!.!.my mom had to go three times and shes finally smoke free!. she did say that she'd get urges, but they'd go away quickly!.

also, my brother is currently having acupuncture because all his life he has had trouble walking because of a tight hamstring (its a really long story, he had to wear leg braces but that didn't help much)!. but so far, there hasn't been a big improvement because he has to start a exercise program, which he hasn't gotten to yet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
