Answers:
Congratulations to your friend on his new endeavor!. I have been a licensed massage therapist going on 3 years!. The first year out of school I worked in a hair salon in a historic part of the town near where I live!. Long story short - I charged $65 for an hour massage without hot stones, essential oils, deep tissue, etc!.

I now work in an established MT clinic for therapeutic massage!. We charge $70 an hour for deep tissue massage!.

Having said that!. During Christmas, to entice new clients, we cut our rates to $35 for an hour massage for first time clients only!.

If your friend works out of a spa they'll set his fees and pay him a percentage of what he brings in!. Initially, I would recommend that he either work for a chiropractor or day spa to gain experience!. In the mean time, tell him to learn to network with everyone he meets!. Marketing ones self is vital to a successful Massage Therapy business!.

As mentioned in the other posts - check in his area to see what other MT's rates are!. I have a friend in Berkeley Springs, West Virgina who only charges $35 for an hour massage because she wants whoever needs a massage to be able to afford one!.

One last thing - his rates will be determined by his skills and/or the modalities he uses!. Tell him to hang in there during Spring fever and practice, practice, practice whatever he learns in school!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell them to charge what they need to charge to be a profitable business!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Find out how much other registered massage therapists charge in the area!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

to entice new customers, may want to charge $5 to $10 less than the others in that region!. bait them in!.
