I just started taking Spironolact for my hormones, and it says not to take with another source of potassium, my multivitiman has 80mg 2% potassium should i stop taken the multivitiman!? I'm also taken a calcium pill and fish oil pills, but i don't think they have potassium in them!.

Answers:
Gastrointestinal problems is a major side effect of most drugs especially this one, I have been on it since June of this year for my Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and if i don't take some sort of potassium along with my normal diet I will wake up close to 3 times at night and early morning with some god awful charlie horses in my legs!. I have found that if i drink gatorade it replaces alot of the electrolytes i've lost by the excessive urination (especially potassium) !. 12 ounces has 50mg of potassium in it, I usually have 2 of the small 12 ounce bottles and i'm fine!. The reason they don't want the multivitamin in your diet is the chance of a potassium overload which is really bad on the heart and can cause death (yes you can OD on multivitamins, so more is not always better)Www@Answer-Health@Com
