My reproductive endocrinologist has no clue either!!! All she wants to do is prescribe drugs !.!.doesnt even take the time to figure out why i'm not menstruating!.

I'm also going the natural way!.!.the agnus castus way! the bottle says you're supposed to take 1 a day and it can take up to 3-6 months for it to kick in!! I am on day 3 of the herb!.

Probably forever- there is no evidence to suggest it works at all!. There is no way you can shorten the length of your cycle through alternative 'remedies'!. The only way to regulate and shorten your cycle would be to go on the contraceptive pill!.

Edit
My apologies, I didn't see the bit about you TTC!. Are you ovulating!? Agnus cactus is unlikely to be the reason your cycle was cut short by two weeks, it was probably coincidental!. Hasn't worked this time has it!? You really need to see your Dr who will run some tests!. As you know, the longer the cycle, the less times a year you will ovulate!.

If you have been TTC for a year or more with no success then see your GP!.

The excuse that the alternative therapy brigade use is always the same one- "If Medical Drs advocate alternative 'remedies' it takes money away from the big bad pharmaceutical companies'

This is the alternative 'medicine' brigades' only line of defense because there is NO proven clinical evidence to show that alternative therapies work!.

They may accuse Pharmaceutical companies of 'this and that',- but the exact same can be said for the alternative 'therapy' industry,- which is also hugely profitable! with unqualified charlatans charging huge amounts of money for procedures which are backed by little or no evidence!. It is little more than sympathetic magic!

At the end of the day, It depends what you want, if you want a belief system rather than a system of medicine, then alternative therapy is the way to go!. The power of the mind/placebo effect is a wonderful thing!.!.!.!.

My main concern has always been that there are very few (if any) regulatory bodies over seeing this highly profitable industry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Rhianna is absolutely spot on!. There was a very recent study looking at agnus castus which concluded it to be worthless I am afraid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Agnus Castus (also called Chasteberry or Vitex) has been used quite extensively for PMS and other "monthly issues" because it has an impact similar to that of progesterone!.
Unfortunately, I haven't read much research about it helping to shorten the duration of a cycle, but I suppose it's possible because of that progesterone-like aspect!.

With all that being said, there is a warning on it not to take it while pregnant or nursing, so I would suggest stopping it before fully trying to conceive, just to be on the safe side!. Taking it while you're not actively trying to conceive would be perfectly safe and beneficial!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
